Re:Tesla AI Day Live Stream [video] on Friday August 20, 2021 @10:14AM (#28246230)
That was my question too. It seems they have a deal with Samsung, atleast for the FSD computer chips[1].

Well designed interface. There might be something here if one can use this to render one's own notes? Or is this meant to render user provided content like Wikipedia?
Re:Show HN: My personal website is a shell on Monday April 05, 2021 @02:55PM (#26703059)
really like the shell ergonomics, how about adding tab completion?
I really like the concept, thanks for sharing!
Re:Sensible macOS Defaults on Friday March 19, 2021 @01:17PM (#26515875)
Perhaps something to the tune of "How to customize macOS defaults" would be more appropriate then?
Tried it out, looks nice :) Is there a quick screenshot feature? That would be really helpful for sharing analysis and storing important views.
I love how focused it is! Would this work on linux in case I build it from source? Just tried it out on my mac and seems to be a little buggy at the moment. The editor doesn't seem to reliably respond to keystrokes and the search window went blank a couple of times. I guess it needs some polish, but I like the UI a lot.

Here's a great video by numberphile on the subject https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASoz_NuIvP0
Re:YC Interviews in India on Thursday March 28, 2019 @03:22AM (#19510031)
Great initiative! This should encourage more Indian/ SE Asian founders to apply, since they no longer have to think about the time spent on the arduous US visa application process - and can instead keep the focus on building their company. Kudos to YC!
Thanks for sharing, probably should make this a Show HN though?
Great demos! Are you planning to release your design software for users at some point? As a fellow roboticist and tinkerer, I think this would be a great tool to have for simple circuits such as adapters which are way too much of a pain atm.

Would be cool to see the output design integrated with an interactive simulation and inspection tool such as [1].

Just wanted to thank the VSCode team for this fantastic editor, recently discovered it and has become my daily driver. Keep up the excellent work!
Re:Improved Facebook to Twitter Connection on Monday July 02, 2018 @06:00PM (#17445719)
Not that it matters much, but just out of curiosity, is the author the real Mark Z.?
What makes you say that?
Is this appropriate as a Show HN? I assume not everyone who wants to see how this works wants to actually (irrevocably) delete their account.
Re:Shouting in the Datacenter (2008) [video] on Sunday June 24, 2018 @05:29PM (#17388492)
tl;dr, Vibration due to shouting causes measurable impact on spinning disk performance, increasing io latency. I guess this wouldn't apply to SSD's though?
gives a 404 error... 404 error: Page not found
Please make this an Ask HN, with a question mark at the end,so as to not confuse other readers. Right now, it seems you're talking about an app that does this.
Re:Sketch.systems on Saturday June 09, 2018 @03:13AM (#17271923)
Looks great! Probably even has applications for anybody prototyping a Finite State Machine, which are very common. Also, I'm not aware of any intuitive FSM design tools which one can "get" in a 5 min tutorial.
Re:Microsoft Is Said to Have Agreed to Acquire GitHub on Sunday June 03, 2018 @05:01PM (#17221994)
"Please wait while we're updating your repo" ... 30-60 mins ... connection timed out
"We won't see another operating environment for computers, because it's extremely hard to fund a professional sales force to educate users with an ASP of around $500"

It's amazing how well this insight/prediction holds after 26 years, the only other comparable OS/OE today is linux, which didn't rely on the funding. Makes me think if/how another leap in computing software will happen.

Source code seems to be available :)

Re:ML turns video of a 360° turn into 3D model of a person on Saturday April 14, 2018 @02:49PM (#16838794)
How is this ML? They use a CNN for foreground segmentation, a minor step in their pipeline. But the major contribution seems to be putting the silhouettes in a common reference frame. I sincerely hope sciencemag isn’t putting ML in the title purely to jump on the bandwagon.
Re:This Game Teaches You How to Build a Quantum Computer on Sunday December 17, 2017 @04:35PM (#15947810)
Looks interesting! Too bad it doesn’t seem to be responsive on mobile...or did I miss something?
Re:Apple’s AR is closer to reality than Google’s on Tuesday June 27, 2017 @08:14AM (#14644628)
I was in no way trying to undercut Apple's efforts, just stating what's written in their documentation [1], i.e they're currently only performing tracking with VIO as compared with Google's [2].

"Almost by default a robust VO system using some kind of sensor fusion does a form of relocalization but rarely loop closure." This is not true, Visual(Inertial) Odometry systems typically estimate "odometry" i.e frame to frame motion tracking hence the name, such as in [3] and [4], whereas SLAM systems, such as [5], store a map of features, and their descriptors to relocalize which isn't necessarily a typical feature of pure VO systems.

Re:Apple’s AR is closer to reality than Google’s on Monday June 26, 2017 @06:40PM (#14641014)
Apple's offering is currently further reaching, but I won't be surprised, if in the coming years, most high end smartphones start shipping with tango-like hardware, especially if AR's appeals broadens. ARKit should certainly be a contributor to that.
Re:Apple’s AR is closer to reality than Google’s on Monday June 26, 2017 @05:51PM (#14640682)
Good points, just wanted to point out that, according to their documentation[1], Apple ARKit doesn't do SLAM, but Visual Inertial Odometry, which is one of the (important) components of a SLAM system, whereas Tango does the full SLAM pipeline with loop closure and relocalisation, and should therefore enable more, larger scale applications and allow for persistence between device/app reboots etc.
