Re:macOS 15.8.2 Breaks OpenGL on Sunday October 18, 2026 @01:35PM (#50143308)
That’s why I bought a Bluetooth Dongle, where everything related to Bluetooth is handeld on the Dongle itself and the PC/Mac only “sees” a USB soundcard (Creative BT-W3X)… it made all my (audio) related Bluetooth bugs disappear on macOS (also on Windows and Linux).
Re:Homebrew 6.0.0 on Thursday June 11, 2026 @12:15PM (#48492375)
Awesome! Thank you for the update.

I noticed that homebrew updated _all_ my casks when running 'brew upgrade' (even those with "auto_updates: true" in their Cask JSON API).

Is this intended, new default behavior? This did not use to happen...

Re:AirPods Max 2 on Monday March 16, 2026 @11:14AM (#47400111)
Take a look at: "AOC AGP277KX" OR "LG 27GM950B", both can do 5k @ 165 Hz
I just got the update and wanted to thank you! But you were faster in informing me :).
Looks awesome! I especially like the Genres view.

Are there plans to add ReplayGain support?

Yes it does.

I bought a Tolino Shine 5 and converted it to Kobo Clara BW following this guide: https://old.reddit.com/r/tolino/comments/1hni1fn/you_can_con...

At the end I still returned the Shine 5 because the small front-facing LED kept shining for no reason. I don’t know if it was hardware related or happened because of the firmware switch.

Which sadly does not work very reliably. At least on my end the selection changes back to default every few days. I reported this issue over the Apple Feedback app already…
Re:I invited strangers to message me through a receipt printer on Saturday October 25, 2025 @01:34AM (#45701557)
I recently bought a thermal ESC/POS printer for 25 Euros on Aliexpress but I saw the sames ones for 30 Euro on Amazon.

I connected it to my linux server and without any drivers I can print with e.g.: `echo "Hello World!" >> /dev/usb/lp0`.

It also supports bar/QR codes.

Re:Firefox is the best mobile browser on Saturday October 11, 2025 @12:13PM (#45550273)
I would hope that Firefox on mobile got finally better/usable.

I still remember this blog post which at the the time (late 2021) was 100% accurate: https://web.archive.org/web/20230221123127/https://blog.nori...

Which mode on your TENS 7000 unit do you use when doing the vagus stimulation?

Burst, Normal or Modulation?

That’s just called „source available“.

I would want to use a demo version (could be with limited functionality) before paying $99 upfront! Not a demo video...

For music on iOS I can't recommend foobar2000 [1] enough - and I tested ALL of the alternatives. You can import ANY folder (probably what OP is looking for) or use your "iPod Library". [2]

Personally, I sync my music via Synctrain (a Syncthing client). [3]

19 Dollar and Open-Source.

Re:Show HN: Badgeify – Add Any App to Your Mac Menu Bar on Tuesday April 08, 2025 @10:46AM (#43622406)
I am not! Bought the program about a month ago and it’s really buggy on MacOS 15. You can clearly tell that it was developed for some previous MacOS version and has been since then forgotten.
Exactly the same issue!

I have been trying to increase my Vitamin D levels for 15 years now but I just can't tolerate this supplement.

Lower dosage: ~500-1000 IE -> side effects come after around 3-4 days of daily intake.
Higher dosage: ~5000 IE -> side effects after a few hours.
I tried following most advice over here in the past but it did not work: https://vitamindwiki.com/Vitamin+D+Cofactors+in+a+nutshell

I'll just live with my low blood Vitamin D levels.

I just tested your service but much prefer this: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=34530011

What you provide is way too basic.

Personal anecdote, Vitamin D is a horrible placebo.

I suffer from Misophonia and I wear my Bose QC45 10 hours+ a day - each day. Without them I could not function and they made life with Misophonia somewhat tolerable.
Re:New 16GB Raspberry Pi 5 on sale now at $120 on Thursday January 09, 2025 @05:57AM (#42644020)
not OP, but: Home Assistant, zigbee2mqtt, Arr-Software-Suite, navidrome etc.

Basically a small server for self-hosted applications.

The feature is also present in HACK! It's called "Full screen swipe to go back" (you really need to search for it, the settings list is kind of messy). Also the reverse you mentioned is implemented.

Ah, I See You're a Man of Culture As Well

This is in my config.fish file:

  abbr -- yeet 'yay -Rns'
  abbr -- gib 'yay -S'
There is also https://github.com/tjhorner/upsy-desky if you want to go for a more "professional" hardware look - but the kit is currently sold out.

I think it's `systemctl reboot --firmware-setup`
