for now? You can't really guarantee anything with companies when they start rolling things out like this.

The fact that they went so hard for the feature without really considering how people felt about the invasion is important.

Without considering how people felt? They cancelled it! The whole process was about getting feedback on it.

We’re you consulted on how google implemented it server side with google photos? You likely didn’t know!

Only one company chose transparency here.

An Apple VP implied anyone who opposed it didn't understand it. And endorsed an NCMEC director calling them screeching voices of the minority.[1]

No they didn't [0]

I doubt it. It will be quietly implemented. If a techie digs in far enough with RE to prove it, general society will treat them like they wear a tinfoil hat.

What a load of BS. Apple told us it was going to happen, and then quietly canned it when there was backlash. There was no intention of "consultation" or "getting feedback" at all.

Why would they bother ? The PR from actually trying to help users has been negative.

So instead they will just continue to scan your photos server-side.

Yep, and because of that we are not getting E2E services (Photos, backup), which would have been possible with this new technology.

E2EE services are absolutely possible without this technology. What are you saying?

They are possible, but they will not be implemented on Apple’s scale without CSAM features. Politics already try to implement forced backdoors.
