That would only work if we agreed on what a replacement regime would look like. Faith in our regime is low, but the 'revolutionary' replacements are the DSA on one side, who mean well but are unbelievably naive[0] and on the other... Idk ancap wignats or something? Before the people equipped to put that amendment to use do so, I think there needs to be some sort of idea of what they're fighting for. There's a lot of stuff about how we gotta fight for democracy, but it's democracy itself that got us here.
One might point out the yale study that shows we don't have democracy, but if that's true, idk how one would implement a democracy that doesn't get co-opted the way ours has. Most of the ideas I see are not actually democratic. There's a lotof "well, democracy would work if only people / ideas that agree with my correct political views should be allowed to power" which isn't democracy, it's authoritarianism. Plato established a long time ago that benevolent authoritarianism is preferable to democracy, but the problem is humans aren't really good at implementing it. When authoritarians of any ilk get power, they tend to step on someone, no matter how good their intentions are.

In this interview Megan Romer, who is basically party leadership, explains 'Authority in the DSA is when we vote at the convention every two years'. The lack of structure is extremely ripe for bad actors.
I run my agents in a docker container
how easy is it for them to get out?
I wish he was still making posts.
lol they made a movie about this called minority report.
Have you tried qwen 27b q4_K_XL? It's a little bigger than the 4080 but not too much
Have you considered this may never happen? What if datacenters continue to swallow all capacity?
>can train insainly powerful models on my laptop
Can you give an example or two?
>Tech companies should ignore it and just publicly name whoever attempts to prosecute them
The most powerful tech companies are in favor of this.
Didn't the Combine give humans immortality?
I took multiple econ classes in college. Just because it's in the books doesn't mean it's true. Not to mention some of the books we studied were contributed to by people involved in the interventionist monetary regime. LIRP scooped the guts out of the middle class & handed it to the tech industry and I've seen nothing convincing to the contrary. Expecting everyday people to learn about inflation and manage a portfolio to try and make sure their earnings aren't eroded is borderline class-war. And I'm no socialist.
>That in aggregate makes the economy much worse.
Does it really? A lot of our problems seem to stem from conspicuous consumption. People will still need things (food shelter clothing) and that will motivate purchasing. "Oh n0es people won't buy flavor of the month consumer garbage, what ever will we do" just doesn't track.
How did a guy who wrote that "gold and economic freedom" wind up running two decades of LIRP?
I always wondered how someone who wrote that could go on to chair the fed with LIRP policies that fueled crazy asset bubbles.
I have almost your system specs, how do they work for non-coding stuff like chat/knowledge/discussion? I've been using models to talk through social stuff I'm anxious about but dont want to annoy my friends with and it's been amazing, but I don't want to share that info with google/openai/anthropic anymore. I shouldn't have in the first place, but I couldn't help it, the exercise was too interesting.
Wouldnt that hurt the conservative cause though?
I agree. But this won't happen in the US because Anthropic / OpenAI is a big ol economic recession risk because we levered ourselves to the tits and put our chips on them.
The US will try to ban them, for being too dangerous or for being an IP violation[0] of some companies we've deemed too big to fail.
[0] lmao how ironic
Yes, I want that 'super weapon' in everyone's hands. Better than the hands of a few. Same thing as literacy. I believe in the power of the do-gooders to overwhelm the do-badders.
I pay for codex & claude. Both out-code me but I'm a novice. Fable is really good and shockingly capable. But they're still dumb as hell in various ways. They're faster than the best humans but they are not better problem solvers, especially for novel stuff like implementing SOTA 3D boolean algorithms in Blender.
This take feels a little like the clergy saying printing presses are dangerous because people will read bad things and spread bad ideas. Turns out they totalky did, but on net it's a small price to pay for widespread literacy.
>Kind of taking this a step further, what is the worst thing that an AI run amok could do to existentially threaten the human race?
Probably convincing humans that untrue things are true. Think less "AI launches nukes" and more "AI convinces people in country A that country B is trying to subvert & destroy them, while it does the same for country B wrt A."
AI is often better than therapy as reported by users. Therapy has some inherent dark-patterns that AI doesn't have yet, like the therapist's financial incentive to trickle a solution to your problem to preserve their income.
2A people don't want the right to carry a musket, they want the right to those same superdrones. You are framing their desires in bad faith.
More than you'd think but it'd get unbelievably ugly. Reign of terror would look like a cakewalk.
No but lots of republicans vote for them actually hoping for smaller less interventionary government, believe it or not. The voters that give them power do not view it as that euphemism.
It's a fairy tale, but they do believe/hope for it.
Nah, voting doesn't work because to become a candidate necessarily requires backroom dealing at odds with the interests of common voters.
We need sortition.
I saw 'medical physicist' and wondered what you do. Thank you for 'a bit more context', I care! Very interesting stuff. Did you attend medical school + a physics program?
>"it just works", completely by luck
What does your validation function look like for this? Whenever stuff "just works" for me I get a little nervous until I determine why.
