It's somewhat nice that among those racist jokes there are litte nuggets of sincere opinions, opinions that people have but are forbidden (by themselves or moderation/peer presure) to share on places like here.
For all the problems that it brings anonimity has that good facet.
When reading threads like this from 4chan I feel the spirit of the internet of yore, when everything was more free and we were a little more sincere.

This one made me think:
>The best is when these phony, virtue signaling liberal CEOs on HN are confronted with the idea of forming a silicon valley union. They absolutely shit a brick.
Is there any truth to it? Has this ever been discussed on HN before?

From my experience HN (and reddit) is surprisingly anti-union. Thats probably got more to do with the vehement anti-union streak in America and capitalist trends though.

HN is fairly anti-union, though it's probably because tech is fairly libertarian and dislikes the notion of unions. It just so happens that management and rank and file employees have similar views.

Well the clique here seems to be all in when they have no direct loss in such an assertion but the companies recently in the news with union concerns are/were all darlings here at one time or another. Yet their leadership which qualifies under your statement objects to the idea of a union operating over their employees.
no one wants added cost or loss of control in their company and I am sure many in leadership positions think they are doing far more than is perceived by the line workers.
in the US unions earned their bad reputation but are a very strong political force at the state level because of public employee unions. we have sufficient laws to protect workers in any industry these days but it was not the case fifty or a hundred years ago. today's unions are more about the political power they can wield than the workers they protect.

Re: racism. You can read the past submissions like this below. Notice the dozens of deeply nested comments from people being offended and engaging in passionate discourse about the heresy of such statements.
That is the goal of such comments, nothing more, nothing less. It's like the biker gangs/prisoners who wear prominent swastikas - not espousing national socialism (seriously), but just a way of saying "I wholly reject your culture, your taboos and feelings, and want this to be known as quickly as possible."

You think? To me it reads like a parody of 4chan. Come to think of it, 4chan is a pretty good at being a parody of itself. It reads to me just like a normal 4chan thread.

This. Since the last US presidential election, the signal-to-noise ratio on HN has slowly but steadily being diluted with a ever increasing constant stream of political propaganda posted by the virtue-signaling crowd.
Some of it manages to be filtered out of HN's main page, but sometimes browsing /newest is a sure way to flair up the good ol'carpal tunnel flagging political propaganda submissions.

It seems to me that the kind of person who would write that is the kind of person who sees a group and can't imagine that individuals in that group might have different opinions.

It's telling that 4chan can't tell the difference between hacker news and a bunch of progressives. I guess when you're that far off to one side everything else looks close together.

I'm not sure why you hate "Pajeet" so much but be sure that he's only trying to do the best for himself.
Thanks to the startup eco system the quality of indian devs is surely but slowly going up .
And now I'm being downvoted for calling out racism against me . Great job .
I'm afraid the only way here is to make India more desirable place than US (and then accept everybody who wants to come).
Just leaving for greener pastures won't qualify.
