Re:The Problem with LangChain on Friday July 14, 2023 @11:00PM (#36732788)
Calling LLM API is just 2 line of code. Building LLM App is just API Calling. LangChain is a framework for sequential api calling, warpping 2 lines of code with 2 thousand lines of code, also wrapping python While loop in chain object. It's like: https://github.com/EnterpriseQualityCoding/FizzBuzzEnterpris...
Re:The working-from-home illusion fades on Saturday July 01, 2023 @02:50AM (#36547417)
> Unfortunately for the believers, new research mostly runs counter to this, showing that offices, for all their flaws, remain essential. A good starting point is a working paper that received much attention when it was published in 2020 by Natalia Emanuel and Emma Harrington, then both doctoral students at Harvard University. They found an 8% increase in the number of calls handled per hour by employees of an online retailer that had shifted from offices to homes. Far less noticed was a revised version of their paper, published in May by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. The boost to efficiency had instead become a 4% decline. The researchers had not made a mistake. Rather, they received more precise data, including detailed work schedules. Not only did employees answer fewer calls when remote, the quality of their interactions suffered. They put customers on hold for longer. More also phoned back, an indication of unresolved problems.

It's not like that at least when it comes to running. The more I run, the more will power I have for all the other stuffs.
Re:Ask HN: What is your low stress, high paid job? on Friday January 22, 2021 @11:26PM (#25879640)
SWE for a top tier investment bank. Pays good. Attend meeting all days, no harsh deadline, work from home, boss doesn't do micro management, got plenty of free time so I end up running 10km everyday during lunch hour.
Re:Study Reveals Immune Driver of Brain Aging on Friday January 22, 2021 @10:56PM (#25879481)

Re:Json-Base – Database built as JSON files on Thursday July 02, 2020 @09:44PM (#23720282)
Oh yeah, so basically had he pushed further, he would have realized to avoid corruption, he would need to implement "write ahead log (WAL)". An for the implementation of WAL and other performance concern, he would have realized that storing the JSON as string is not the way to go, he'd need to implement other binary data structure. Then he'd have realized that he had just invented another NoSQL DB.

Had he pushed further.....

Had he pushed further, he'd have raised funding for the newly invented NoSQL DB, and built a startup company on top of it.

This is the cutest thing I have heard recently.
Re:Roman Finger Counting on Friday May 15, 2020 @04:59AM (#23190223)
Interesting, if you ask a computer scientist what is the max number that can be counted with two hands, he will say 2^10 = 1024. 9,999 is far from 10-bit.
I really hope that it has python api

Re:Pandas 1.0 on Wednesday January 29, 2020 @09:37PM (#22188411)
I have 30K line of codes in production using pandas 0.23.4. Should I consider updating.
This will forever remain in grey area. I learnt almost all my coding skills from my first job as a programmer, I owe my mentor forever for whatever successes my skills will bring me in the future.

When you have debt to serve, kids to feed, wouldn't you want to blame someone else when you fxxked up your work? Human, all too human.
Re:Pattern Matching in Ruby 2.7 (2019) on Thursday January 09, 2020 @04:44AM (#21999795)

Re:Ask HN: What Technologies to Learn in 2020? on Sunday January 05, 2020 @08:52PM (#21965782)
I would say keep an eye on Apache Arrow, it can potentially change how we operate with data.
Re:Research Papers That Caught the Public's Attention in 2019 on Monday December 30, 2019 @11:01PM (#21918858)
TLDR of 100 researches:

1) Work out 3+ hour/week with as lease 2 weight training sections.

2) No processed food, no added sugar. More nuts, fruit, vegetables.

3) The world is fxxked because of climate change.

4) Sleep more.

If they had not died, they would have told us to stay away from Java.
Re:Category:Obsolete occupations on Wednesday December 11, 2019 @12:20AM (#21759811)
Can you elaborate more on " You may also find that you crave healthier food options immediately after having just completed an arduous workout.".

I actually found myself less attracted to junk food after working out but I am not aware that there is a connection behind.
