My dude! Just use Whisper-CPP! It's free and takes almost no time! :)
You may also find that many podcasts include a transcript anyway - look for podcast:transcript in the RSS feed, which will link to a VTT or SRT format file.
I'm curious - the female voice is definitely AI.
But is the male voice AI? There are a few ums and ers there ... and why would you record an AI voice too close to the microphone, so every time they say a plosive, it sounds bad?
Hey, @bjar2 - would love to cover this for Podnews, the industry newsletter.
I guess I'm curious about how the discovery platform works, and what data you're using. An API would be fun, wouldn't it?

This is a really interesting piece of work. I wonder what use it might have - perhaps it might aid those companies who do "brand suitability" tools, being able to spot when someone is being ironic or sarcastic.
Putting it into the Podnews newsletter today.
This is nice, though Google's NotebookLM (and similar products from ElevenLabs and Meta) offer much the same thing for free.
Bitwarden also supports passkeys, and works on iOS, Android, Mac, Windows etc.
Mind, I’ve no idea how well it does so. Every so often, my passkeys fail in some incomprehensible way, so I’m not very comfortable with the concept.
alternateEnclosure is supported by PodcastAddict, PodLP, TrueFans, and a few more out of the gate. It's a comparatively new tag, but one that will be quite interesting once more podcast apps begin using it.
You can either use the iTunes API, or you can use the Podcast Index, which is free and open for anyone. podcastindex.org also has a number of APIs to help build a tool.
That RSS feed is working just fine for me... ?
> Please believe me. My current email server IP has been managed by me and used exclusively for my personal email with zero spam, zero, for the last ten years.
I don't believe you. Sorry. Unless you never actually use your email address for anything, to have zero spam is impossible.
Unless you mean that you have a 100% success rate in filtering that spam out, and in which case, I'd still not believe you.
The YouTube Music app - a pre-installed app on most new Android phones - lets you subscribe to podcasts via RSS feed. If you know the RSS feed address, that is.
So I built a thing to help you find the RSS feed address for your favourite podcast.
Super simple, straightforward, and works on anything (though you'll not, yet, be able to add shows using iPhone - YTM is rolling that out soon).

There are transcripts in some podcasts. Try looking at the RSS feed for Podnews Daily - in your service as
https://pods.ee/261 (look at today's, Oct 19, since there was a bug generating the SRT/TXT versions recently).
You'll find transcripts for some shows in SRT format, and some have JSON and TXT as well.
Use those transcripts if they exist, I reckon!
Also, check podcastindex.org for an alternative search API; and join podcastindex.social to learn more about the various tools.
Free podcast stats can be generated using
https://op3.devCloudfront on top of an Amazon S3 bucket is cheaper and faster than Amazon S3 on its own, by the way.
You might also look at IPFS Podcasting, but that requires quite a leap of faith!
This is nice! :) You should find that the Podnews feed you're getting now gives you AAC rather than MP3 audio.
This would be more useful/interesting if this podcast used
https://op3.dev - an open service which many others use. The data quoted here seems to be mostly proprietary data from Spotify, which is a bit of a black box.
Interesting! What problem is this trying to solve?
Arguably, this is a transformative work and would require the permission of the creator.
steno.fm is an app that surfaces transcripts from podcasts who are doing their own transcriptions and placing them in the RSS feed.
This is correct; the Spotify embedded player - which the foundation has mistakenly used here, uses a DRM technology called Widevine.
There are other, more sensible, tools to use here: not least, the HTML5 "AUDIO" tag, rather than a proprietary embedded player!
Will cover in Podnews in the next 24 hours.
This pre-dates the Podcast Index by a number of years, and as far as I'm aware, doesn't use the new podcast namespace at all.
You can use PodcastIndex.org through their API, or simply download the database of shows.
"Page not found", which is a disappointment. Would love to know more for podnews.net :)
There's a free database called The Podcast Index. Find it at www.podcastindex.org
You can download an SQLite database, or use the API. (Hint: use the API).
Also, read https://podinfra.net for some best practice (and read https://podnews.net too!)
Each podcast publisher makes an RSS feed, which includes data about the show and each episode.
They then add podcasts to podcast directories - https://podnews.net/article/all-the-podcast-directories is a big list - which index them.
> is there a centralized place, a kind of RSS freed to find all podcasts in the world ?
Apple runs a freely-available API of its directory, but https://podcastindex.org runs a free API and a full download (scroll down) of its index.
Worthwhile popping over to
https://podcastindex.social and asking there.
Podcast Index is working on a ton of new RSS tags - the group could certainly do with a great app to show some of them off!
It would be awesome if this set a correct agent when scraping the RSS.
Currently it uses NodeFetch/1.0
No dates or detail about this other than it exists. When is the closing date?
It's in competition, it seems to me.
This is a great article, and I'll link from podnews.net today. I don't like the title: it doesn't really say that, and it's a pejorative clickbaity title, but the data is really interesting.
