Sorry for what is undoubtedly a low-informational comment but..

Whoa. What the absolute fuck is going on here.

I thought the images were old school POVRay renders. Turns out they have a visualisation setup, and they're real pictures!

Great for CI i guess; or is this meant as a cost savings measure where you can swap out your databricks for self-hosted this?

Straight out of Stephensons' "Anathem". Highly recommended read if you are eager for ~800 pages of kickass technoscientific monks saving the world.

> the named animation sequence

noone abused verbs like this in the before times. a named animation sequence?? as opposed to what, ephemeral anonymous animation sequences?

Why are these things always The Biggest Update Ever.

If that were literally true, by now we'd be walking around with devices the size of Mt. Rushmore.

Is this "unreal backlash" in the room with us right now?

Slop. Boo.
What the hell is up with that comparison at the end?! Seems... overly verbose?

You could argue that denying and perverting our core humanity is what we're all about in the current age...
Re:Kowloon Walled City on Saturday October 17, 2026 @06:56AM (#50129922)
The closest we ever came to evolving something out of Calvino's Invisible Cities, in my opinion.

Easy to romanticize something that was, in a way, a crime infested slum. But it's a shame it's no longer there to be experienced.

yes for the love of god would someone please make sure the country remains a safe, boring holiday park / dairy farm. will someone think of all that poor livestock / the children!!1
for those who don't speak Dutch: we haven't had wolves in a long time.

now that they're back, eg. wild boar are seen congegating in groups of 50-60 animals, for herd safety. something they never did before.

I don't get the fuss? 163 presses in and the machine scores 48%. You just ... randomly press the buttons? Should I play for even longer?
System a emits telemetry. System b reads telemetry and exposes to the internet.

You can't drive my car simply by pointing a webcam on the steering wheel.

Re:Fridges in French supermarkets hit by cyber attack on Monday October 12, 2026 @01:36PM (#50059873)
Interestingly, a major Dutch supermarket was also hit by a yet-undescribed cyberattack, prompting them to basically shut down every IT system. So not a hack of a control system, sounds more like an ordinary ransomware attack... but still tantalizing that two EU countries have their food supplies targeted the same day... the day of a big NATO "russia we dont mess around" conference, too.
Re:Fridges in French supermarkets hit by cyber attack on Monday October 12, 2026 @01:33PM (#50059838)
well they weren't shut down. just adjusted. and the adjustment range apparently went up all the way to +50 centigrade...

No lootboxes?
just submitted the airhorn PR; ~second rainbow arrow slop grenade incoming~ BOOM slop cannon fired
such as... angry flaming rainbow textboxes and arrows?
Literally unusable as it is. Some minimal extra features this would need:

- rainbow dripping arrows

- angrily pointing arrows

- flame-surrounded text boxes with particle effects

- the ability for the agent to play airhorn.wav at max volume, overriding existing volume or mute settings

USE carbon dioxide to get through the day? What?! We're not plants!
