Now's the time to start. But yeah, you don't say "we're doing it my way." It probably sounds more like, I'm broke, I want to pay you back, what can we do to help me make it happen?
Re:Ron Conway Drops A Nuclear Bomb On The Super Angels on Thursday September 23, 2010 @11:47PM (#1722588)
In my book, that makes it even worse. I can at least have sympathy for people who write and talk that way because they've never known anything else.
Re:Down with fun: The depressing vogue for having fun at work on Sunday September 19, 2010 @11:16PM (#1707629)
I love it! Just re-subscribed thanks to your comment.
Fecious?
Re:Why pornographers no longer love the web on Saturday September 18, 2010 @03:17PM (#1704769)
Do you know the etymology of the word "pornography?"
Re:Google Instant Proves Google's Design Process is Broken on Thursday September 16, 2010 @01:51PM (#1698522)
I just read the article. In it, you assume the product could be better, as you just repeated here ("could be a lot better"). Please explain how that's not begging the question.
Re:New York's Water Filled With Invisible Shrimp on Wednesday September 01, 2010 @10:27PM (#1655062)
That's why you have to insist on http://tapdny.com . (I know, it's filtered.)
Re:ASP.NET MVC 3 Preview 1 - Razor View Engine on Saturday August 28, 2010 @02:39PM (#1642156)
I cannot understand your last sentence. Please help. "This kind of tempting?" "Eschewed?" Eclipsed? Eschewed in favor of?
Re:The Top Idea in Your Mind on Wednesday July 21, 2010 @09:46PM (#1537118)
Good essay, but paragraph six is redundant.
Re:Bee Sting Theory of Poverty on Tuesday June 29, 2010 @01:07AM (#1470467)
The "earned income" credit is a negative tax ("refundable credit").
Re:PostgreSQL 9.0b1 with built-in replication support on Monday May 03, 2010 @01:39PM (#1315399)
Have you tried adding a function that converts between locales and ordering/indexing by that in Postgres?

Like in this thread: http://archives.postgresql.org/pgsql-hackers/2004-09/msg0075...

Re:Adobe Responds to Jobs on Friday April 30, 2010 @02:15AM (#1307404)
Yeah, it's a terrible sentence. First they're "we," then they're "Adobe," then they're "we" again, and while you were distracted by all that, behind your back they snuck in "as we are [working]" when they meant "as we do."
Re:How I Would Try to Hack Your Mint.com Account on Saturday April 24, 2010 @10:36PM (#1292018)
Last time I pulled my credit report, the security questions included "Choose which of the following is true: you have an account at XXX Bank / you have a loan in the amount of $YYY at ZZZ Bank / etc."

Yes, some other information was required too, and no, I don't know what good a credit report does you either.

Re:A computational perspective on set theory on Sunday March 21, 2010 @03:12AM (#1207660)
Agreed about the diagonalization method, but that's not what he said was unintuitive. He said the statement was unintuitive.
I think it's nice of Garmin to let them use the company's property like that.
Re:'I was falsely branded a paedophile' on Tuesday February 16, 2010 @09:35PM (#1130669)
Was the last time you checked thirty years ago?
Re:Ask HN: I made $24k over the last month. Now what? on Tuesday January 19, 2010 @01:31AM (#1061647)
Important note: incorporation is required neither for SEP-IRA nor for my favorite, the individual 401(k).
Re:The problem with my self-imposed iPhone boycott is... on Saturday August 08, 2009 @12:11PM (#749431)
Not to get off topic, but Warren didn't write that, did he?
Re:Forget Shorter Showers on Saturday August 01, 2009 @12:44PM (#736405)
Would you please explain how driving a small car (let's take a Prius as the obvious example) has exactly the same effect on the environment as driving a gas-guzzler? I don't get it.
Re:The Quirky Genius of the Dos Equis Ad Campaign on Saturday July 25, 2009 @06:01PM (#723745)
Of course, Dos Equis was created by a German.
Re:Most expensive javascript ever on Monday July 20, 2009 @02:49PM (#714896)
So as little as $300,000? Unless the amount was much greater, I'm betting there've been far more expensive Javascript mistakes.
Re:Why Does Time Go Faster As We Get Older? on Sunday July 19, 2009 @06:04PM (#713477)
Truth isn't truth if it isn't falsifiable.

Quite a claim. Is it falsifiable?

Re:Ask HN: Would you use this? on Monday June 08, 2009 @01:51PM (#647679)
Set it up so the participating sites can give away rewards to the people who beta test. Free accounts, discounts, whatever. You could organize all that.

Even if only a fraction of reviewed sites do it, you'll have enough people coming through that sites with nothing to give away will get attention too.

Re:U.S. Said to Seek a Chrysler Plan for Bankruptcy on Thursday June 04, 2009 @02:28AM (#641041)
That's interesting, I was under the impression that pensions were an agreement between the company's management and the union. But it seems you're saying the company had no say in the matter? I know I've never had a pension anywhere I worked. Please explain.
Re:Ballmer: Microsoft Will Move Jobs Offshore If Taxes Rise on Thursday June 04, 2009 @02:19AM (#641034)
Here in California, we have very high taxes, and the state does not build roads, and provides only minimal policing.
Re:How I Hacked Hacker News (with arc security advisory) on Wednesday June 03, 2009 @05:04PM (#640403)
The sentence was grammatically unambiguous as written.
Re:The Flimsy Doorknob & The Forgettable Receipt on Sunday May 31, 2009 @09:39PM (#635327)
When I'm hunting through my papers for receipts, I want those things to look like what they are--receipts. The only drawback to the existing MASA receipt that I can see is that it's harder to make your web page look good when you're trying to show it off on your blog later.
Re:Ask HN: Plain English ToS - Is This Legal? on Sunday May 31, 2009 @12:56AM (#634446)
Haha. I like it. Looks good to me, though I'm not a lawyer. Only thing I could think of adding would be a sentence that explicitly says something like "you assume all responsibility for your use of the site and any information you get from it."
