Re:Jio’s phone will run Android and cost about $54 on Thursday September 24, 2020 @11:26AM (#24579481)
Only a very small fraction of Indians care or are aware about privacy. Even if there was no Jio, you wouldn't still have privacy. American/Chinese government and businesses already have access to your data. To think that governments will voluntarily abandon control over data is wishful. That ship has already sailed. I would rather give my data to Indian government and companies than foreign.

Also, you are really underemphasising the role of Jio in the digital revolution in India. If you live in India, you would remember the exorbitant data charges by telecom companies in the pre-Jio era. At least because of Jio, internet has more become accessible to the masses.

"As far as Linux 5.7 goes there are many new features and improvements like an Apple USB "Fast Charge" driver, Intel Tiger Lake "Gen12" graphics are now deemed stable and promoted out of the experimental flag, AMD Renoir graphics are in good shape, F2FS Zstd support, Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 support on this mainline kernel, and a lot more."

Really? Most of the chatbots in production are rule based systems.
This article is from 2016. Edit: They fixed the title.

Being from India, I confirm this. Broadband plans cost around that. Mobile 4G plans are around 6$ per month for 1.5GB per day of usage. Though the speeds are more like 3G.

Sure. Western countries are all good and pure.
Didn't work for me.
This is only true for young urban middle class people.
Every number doesn't have its own name. If you observe closely there is a pattern. From 21 to 99, you can observe that every digit at tens place decides the suffix and the digit at ones place decides the prefix.
If we are to mass deploy self driving cars, we must solve this problem. No one would want to travel by cars that could be tricked so easily.

This also leads to a moral and legal questions. If a self driving car injures someone, who will be responsible, the person owning the car or the manufacturer?

The history of US fascinates me as a foreigner. How it went from a totally unknown land to a super power within few centuries.

Re:India Lacks Formal, Salaried Jobs on Saturday February 24, 2018 @02:25PM (#16454794)
Not exactly. The number of people with unsalaried jobs is large because of the fact that a large number of people (60%) are still employed in agricultural sector.
Re:Show HN: Chomper – An Internet Blocker for Linux on Sunday February 18, 2018 @01:30PM (#16407379)
How is it better than any Firefox/Chrome extension (like say Leech block)?
Chrome and Firefox consume more memory. UC browser is faster. It can act as replacement of sports, news and Facebook app.
Though Firefox on Android has improved a lot with the recent quantum update, you can still feel it's a little laggy as compared to Chrome.

Specifically, scrolling on Firefox feels very laggy. Also, Firefox doesn't play videos on same tab. That becomes very frustrating.

These people are mainly relatively unskilled. These companies are notorious for hiring entire batches of graduating students.

Situation in top tier colleges is lot better. This can be seen from increase in placements in IITs this year.

The algorithm mentioned in the paper doesn't need any information about the internal structure of the image classifier.
"Sci-Hub itself doesn’t seem to be too bothered by the blocking prospect or the millions in damages it faces. The site has a Tor version which can’t be blocked by Internet providers, so determined scientists will still be able to access the site if they want."
Re:How Fear and Outrage Are Sold for Profit on Tuesday July 25, 2017 @04:01PM (#14851366)
This article's headline is ironic.
Mix this with AI creating video from audio (http://spectrum.ieee.org/tech-talk/robotics/artificial-intel...) and you can make anyone say anything.
