>>I encourage you to imagine a world without the rule of law.

When you issue loans at xxx% interest, non payment for a lot of borrowers is baked in. Plus, collection should not free (taxpayers money)

Re:Debt Collection Companies Have Hijacked the Justice System on Sunday February 25, 2018 @10:46PM (#16462932)
Yp, your life might get ruined but for the judge it's just another day at the job. Need to clear the docket, meet Jeff for lunch and then plan his golfing weekend.

Oh, he owes $127 and he's not here? Arrest warrant!

Re:China Seeks to Repeal Presidential Term Limit on Sunday February 25, 2018 @08:22AM (#16458813)
In a sense they have a "permanent ruler," the Politburo. But in reality the leader is 99%, unless he makes sudden /unpopular moves.

But then, he's 64, he has another 5 legit years, so he'll be 69 when his 2 terms end. He might not have that much time. But who knows...

Let's just sit back and think... $4,000,000,000 in 4 years. or $50,000 for 80,000 families.

On the other hand, how come they are making 65% net margins? Where's the competition?

Re:Apple in China: who holds the keys? on Friday February 23, 2018 @11:46PM (#16451727)
So if China demands the key, Apple will pull out of China? https://www.cnbc.com/2017/11/02/apple-china-revenue-up.html ~$10 Billion last quarter of 2017
Not a lawyer, but IMO someone has to go to jail. All this money spent, the media and Mueller isn't going to end his career shooting blanks.

You can plead however you want to, but if the evidence is crystal clear, you're toast. Even if Trump pardons him, NY would step in http://thehill.com/homenews/state-watch/333370-ny-ag-investi... , apparently a lot of the laundering took place in NY (get paid in foreign bank from foreign sources; don't declare to IRS+State; pay suppliers and mortgages from that account directly, without declaring it. Millions and millions of it, not chump change)

Decisions, decisions. Give up Trump (if he is hiding something) and kinda go to witness protection because they'll get sued for decades or life in jail.

The little town banks maybe. Frankly, the national one I think try to get away with as much as they can. And their bonus system is probably to blame: "by the time this is discovered, I'll be gone with my bonus."
I would've liked it more if the refund was accompanied by a fine of 3X the amount.

Do they ever mistake to give people free money (at such scale?) I bet the stealing happens a lot more often.

FBI has virtually unlimited resources and they really want this guy. So, he only made it easier, no doubt they would have caught that even without the paper trail. FBI had access to his corp returns and to his loan application. Everything he has done is under the microscope and unless he can hand Trump on a silver plate, he's toast. He's almost 70 years old and you're talking about 20 years sentences.

When you deal with Russians crooks and people in those circles, you tend to lower your guard. You think you will not get caught "because in Ukraine they had money in suitcases," or through a gazillion shell companies. The funny thing is that he might have just gotten away, if he wasn't involved in the Trump campaign. Call it greed or money mismanagement, but knowing when to quit may mean life or death (kinda)

I am sure Dept X has plans ready, just waiting for the opportune moment to implement it in USA. To protect the children or something...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automatic_number-plate_recogni...

Mobile ANPR is becoming a significant component of municipal predictive policing strategies and intelligence gathering, as well as for recovery of stolen vehicles, identification of wanted felons, and revenue collection from individuals who are delinquent on city or state taxes or fines, or monitoring for "Amber Alerts". With the widespread implementation of this technology, many U.S. states now issue misdemeanor citations of up to $500 when a license plate is identified as expired or on the incorrect vehicle. Successfully recognized plates may be matched against databases including "wanted person", "protection order", missing person, gang member, known and suspected terrorist, supervised release, immigration violator, and National Sex Offender lists. In addition to the real-time processing of license plate numbers, ANPR systems in the US collect (and can indefinitely store) data from each license plate capture. Images, dates, times and GPS coordinates can be stockpiled and can help place a suspect at a scene, aid in witness identification, pattern recognition or the tracking of individuals.

North Korea is even safer, I'm willing to bet. Wanna live there?
Re:IV Bags May Not Be Necessary to Rehydrate Patients on Thursday February 22, 2018 @11:45AM (#16438894)
To make kids drink something...would juice /soda and some type of salty chips or crackers work? They get some sugar and water from the drink and some salt from the crackers, potato chips.

Simply because they are probably more likely to drink and eat that :)

Re:Signal Foundation on Wednesday February 21, 2018 @03:59PM (#16432923)
They are also dozens of other Actons and companies that can write a $50 mil check if needed. NSA might be in trouble
This is absolutely insane, especially in USA. Courts here are supposed to be impartial and just. If you increase your chances by x in a certain court--and you can file there--what justice is it? Shocked that this travesty lasted this long.
Apparently does everything, from hunting to sport shooting. And if you're into guns, why not also have an automatic rifle?
I wonder if it works: Company buys land to build office but sets apart a certain percentage for employee apartments. In essence a company town. Hires a management co to run it, no buys just lease. When the company folds, downsizes or whatever, the apartments are part of it. It costs, but it's cost of doing business.

Otherwise a huge company can distort the home market .

Maybe not enough land is available, especially in places like NYC or the city wont let them build 50 stories high apartment buildings?

In medieval times, I think they worked all day essentially for food. But this is also due to automation, farming in US especially is basically run by a few % of the population.
TL;DR After nestle they are the largest buyers of coffee beans so they act like Walmart. But they pay interest, at European rates (very low.)

$58 BILLION...in six years. It might not end well. A small hiccup at those numbers can kill you.

Bottom line is that they want the sale. So they have figured a system where they do it x% of the time and get away with it. Maybe they place a part of the cash with another car transaction?

In theory all transactions above $10k in cash must be declared, but penalties are only if you get caught and bonus time /end of qtr is 18 days away.

Nope, not for me. Cash beats everything, where it's practical to use. And there's privacy
>>— Bad person masquerading as a legit lender could give a bag of cash to the seller at closing. Now the seller has a banking problem.

Not necessarily. If the price in cash makes up for the inflation losses you can easily pay for most things in cash. Or buy a money order when you can't. You can launder maybe as much as 60% of your income. Cash is spent and your legit salary goes to the bank.

Eating out? Cash

Vacation? Cash

Babysitter? Cash

Buy a used car? Cash (maybe even a new car...go to a like minded dealer)

Furniture? Cash

Home improvements? Cash

Clothes, jewelry? Cash

Obviously gotta do it in stages or else you stand out.

No it doesn't. Want to secure the role so the other actress doesn't get it? What I said, doesn't apply to Weinstein types
Not even a court. Pretty much you have to prove that you didn't rape her 14 months ago. Of course she reported it this late because she was ashamed or whatever. Meanwhile, your life is ruined. Sex is not like a dishwasher you can return within 30 days if you regret it later.

I have a feeling that a lot of these actresses knew what they exactly what were doing. They made a bet, and now they want to blame the other side 100%.

Re:Why Can’t Riding Bikes in America Just Be Normal? on Monday February 19, 2018 @02:08PM (#16414903)
The road + trees, plus walking path is x. So carving out a 10-12 feet bike lane (two ways) is a challenge.
Re:Why Can’t Riding Bikes in America Just Be Normal? on Monday February 19, 2018 @02:05PM (#16414874)
...and crash into cars or trees .
The law is the law and no doubt they helped write it, but morally MS has no case--if the original PC already had a Win license.
>>Microsoft filed a letter seeking $420,000 in restitution for lost sales

Lost sales because they might have bought a new PC with Windows? Odds are that the PCs already came with Windows, so maybe he installed a newer version of Windows....

>>but I have a feeling that somewhere there is a scientist whose professional ethics are a little less robust.

Butchers seem to have made peace with a few things. The same with their clients, lamb eaters. Let's be honest, at some point we cut corners; diabetes is the new epidemic. Most people, at least in the developed world, can stuff their faces with cheap (and poorer you are, more empty) calories.

Great point. Americans will also be arrested for beating their wives, a conduct that might be 100% legal in another country (or at least ignored.)

Or try driving with a legally owned gun through a few USA states and see...
