I noticed this interesting fact during my secondary school education. Additionally you can use this to prove that e is the point where a change in the exponent causes a larger result than a change in the base. E.g. (x+d)^y > x^(y+d) when y >= e for any real value d.
Interesting. Who are paying these people? I'm not aware of any software products based on ChatGPT&co
Unverified and unsupported sweeping statement
QOI caused a huge burst in interest for image formats. Audio is a little harder to work with and understanding so I can imagine less impact for QOA (still good though). What I'm really looking forward to is QOV (video).
Maybe by asking the AI to be concise they're reducing the server load? It has been running awfully slow recently, probably due to a surge in mainstream awareness.
Three is widely considered the worst mobile network in the UK. I think they have won #1 worst network for years in a row.
Wouldn't it be better to save the publication datetime as a Unix timestamp, then convert it based on the reader's timezone?
In their examples section they mention how a double agent was charged with tax evasion based on $2m of undeclared income from bribes.
But if the agent WERE to mention the income on their tax documents, even as "Unspecified due to 5th amendment protection" that surely would be incriminating enough to cause further investigation from the state. (I assume the US government keeps a close eye on their agents papers).
I'm just not sure how you're supposed to declare ill-gotten gains without 5th amendment worthy self-incrimination.
The performance hit is quite unacceptable in games such as CSGO. I cannot really think of any competitive game where the performance hit is justifiable.
It does seem possible, e.g. rather than sending an uppercase alphabetic message as 8-bit ASCII bytes, you can send their position in the alphabet instead, so 01000001 becomes 00001.
Of course this only works when you're limiting yourself to a subset of all possible data (in this case, the uppercase alphabet). A general method where all possible binary combinations are indexed (and the indexes are sent rather than the data) would not save any data as the binary data would always be its own index.
Oft reposted, usually engenders an interesting discussion about MVPs though so I enjoy reading the comments everytime
After reading this, it seems clear (for most users) that the paid REST api for GPT-3 is a good deal.
I've always imagined that voxels are the pixel art of the 3D world. Much easier to create from both an aesthetic and development point of view. Hard discrete edges that fall along the XYZ planes are much easier to program for (think collision detection etc).
Money laundering? Fundamental incompetence? Pick any reason honestly, they all make the same amount of sense. I've never understood why Mozilla bought Pocket.
“Pretty much every single monkey that had had implants put in their head suffered from pretty debilitating health effects,” said the PCRM’s research advocacy director Jeremy Beckham. “They were, frankly, maiming and killing the animals.”
Elon's desire for human trials in 2022 definitely isn't going to work. Human trials in 2032 seems a much more realistic timeframe.
These free-speech reddit clones always seem to descend to far-right Nazism. Maybe you have to ban all political discussion to survive as a reddit clone on the modern internet.
Yeah honestly this blog post just seems to be highlighting a bug in gcc when it is compiling to an older version of C. Not sure why the author chose to frame it as some big point about the printf function.
I tried: "When is the first full moon after October the 18th 2021?"
It should have said the 20th of October but it said: "November the 19th 2021".
Big AI models have quite a way to go I think...
Clients should really be using something like exponential backoff ethernet-style.
I'd say "right-wing dystopia" is putting it too strongly. The USA is definitely further right than the UK, but the main perception I'd say is that the politics in the USA are toxic, highly polarised and all-consuming (very easy to get sucked into it and hard to get out).
But I don't think that's a surprising perception given that for the last 6 years, the news we get about the USA across the pond is almost exclusively politically-orientated.
UKite here, active in the London fintech scene. Everything I say is based purely on my perception of the situation.
Anecdotally, I see more people in this sector moving to places such as Canada, Australia and New Zealand than to the USA. I think there is a perception here that while salaries might be higher in the USA, there are hidden costs both financially and socially (such as health insurance payments, getting to grips with the American "way of life" etc). The American "way of life" in particular is not seen as "glamorous" (again anecdotally) and I think most view it as a bit of a step down, while the other countries I mentioned are viewed as a step up.
Afaik, there are more UK citizens living in Australia than all the rest of Europe combined.
If they're sensible they'll keep all current domains and just redirect the profits
This is an interesting project, I made a somewhat similar NN to C "compiler" but that was for feedforward networks only. Could this in theory be extended to support models saved in common formats (such as H5)?
