I have been learning go for the past 4 weeks now and love it. Does anyone have any advice on a good GUI library that works well with Go? I have had a look at some of the Qt bindings but they are not that great sadly.

Also is there a decent MSSQL library for Go yet?

You will find some here:

http://godoc.org/?q=mysql

http://go-lang.cat-v.org/pure-go-libs

EDIT: I just realized that you asked for MSSQL libs and not MySQL. Sorry, those links wont help you.

No worries. I have had a pretty good look but have not found anything for MSSQL sadly. There are some bindings for Qt and some custom widget kits but nothing that great sadly. I would love proper Qt bindings but that will take a while.

I use this one for MSSQL through ODBC: https://github.com/LukeMauldin/lodbc

Implementing the TDS protocol is fairly straightforward, and although it may take some time, it will help a lot of people and likely make you even more familiar with the language. I did it in pure-JS for node.js and it was a great learning experience.

don't use go with mssql. why would you want to do that.

As a product, MSSQL is surprisingly solid. That said, unless you're being forced to use it, I'd concur with avoiding it. And if you are going to use it, then why Go? Why not just stick with C#/C++ or any other language with established libraries for MSSQL.

Picking what language to use based on your database seems silly.

You should pick a language based on project and customer requirements, not what you like to use.

Since MSSQL is mostly used in Windows shops, nothing more natural than using a language directly supported by Microsoft.

Same reason golang apps need to run on windows. Golang needs good library support for MSSQL.
