TypeScript is however a plain JavaScript linter, you remove the type annotations and have JavaScript, which was a consequence of the learnings versus other JavaScript wannabe replacements.

Also why after namespaces and enums, the team never introduced any other feature that wasn't also part of JavaScript standardisation process, and has since then discouraged their use.

It also required Dartium, its Chrome based VM, and Chrome team eventually did not want to ship it any longer.

There are systems programming languages since JOVIAL in 1958, enough of them to chose from if C had never existed, and what syntaxes would be favoured instead.
How many of those complaining have actually paid for Enterprise Ubuntu?

Good for Debian, they were not required to.

Fair enough, however being vibe coded is all the rage nowadays.
It is open source, those complaing, have they given any money to sponsor the fix?

Yes, they should probably by now have shipped it, yet all those complaints are the usual entitled folks that only leech distros.

Google politics, Dart is only around thanks to AdWords team, and Flutter.

Jetpack Compose was created by Android team exactly as counter reaction to Flutter.

Go got lucky with their internal advocacy, and the push to rewrite Kubernetes from Java into Go.

Google isn't exactly known for great programming language design, contrary to runtime implementations.

Dart v1.0, they had nothing to do with Dart v2.0, and the change in language semantics was the main reason folks like Gilad Bracha left the team.

That goes to show how low the things have gone with US administration.

In fact several countries do support Huawei store in addition to Apple and Google ones.

Fame is not a gold pass, as proven by many other revered ones that weren't so lucky, across all kind of art forms, and sports.
Re:WTF Ubuntu? on Monday November 02, 2026 @10:38AM (#50338305)
Proprietary drivers, desktop first experience similar to how Mandrake used to be, or SuSE, and the most relevant, in regards to proprietary software on Linux distributions, it tends to be either Ubuntu or Red-Hat.
Too many words that don't refute the fact that how great Kojima might have been in past productions, without Microsoft's deal, he would have had to close shop instead.
If it wasn't for Microsoft money, he would not have a studio any longer, after Sony was done sponsoring him.
Re:OpenIDEA: The IDE you know, rebuilt in Rust on Monday November 02, 2026 @04:59AM (#50334890)
Yeah, only when the comparison isn't a native app resource consumption.
Re:OpenIDEA: The IDE you know, rebuilt in Rust on Monday November 02, 2026 @04:55AM (#50334871)
Except people forget that only works for VScode, thanks to the multiple processes architecture with enough components written in a mix of C++, Rust, .NET and Java, with the terminal using WebGL.

It is quite telling how many clueless folks brag about Java support in VSCode, without understanding that depending on the plugin, they are either running Eclipse or Netbeans headless.

Yeah, Electron works, provided one creates a whole circus around its performance issues.

Try to do that for a Windows UWP, iOS, Android or z/OS application, in pure Go.

Yes it is super easy, in a few selected workflows of Linux, BSD, Windows, macOS, everything else is just as "complicated" as regular C cross compilation.

Re:Enlightenment 0.28.0 Release on Sunday November 01, 2026 @04:36PM (#50330153)
For me the old days in Linux land were more like 1995 - 2005, folks on my degree were already using Enlightenment in 1997.
As things are, they probably don't even know there is a website called hacker news.

So maybe Rust isn't the best tool for the job.

It is the same measurement as those AI written Readme files, blog posts and articles.

It is still the output of a replicator machine, regardless of text, images, video or code.

There is some quite tasty microwave food, it doesn't make the person into a proper cook, not even an aspiring chef.

Uses Typescript for the most part, not much better than Electron stuff, cannot use the InteliJ plugins powered by the JVM, it is vibe coded, no thanks.
Re:OpenIDEA: The IDE you know, rebuilt in Rust on Sunday November 01, 2026 @05:41AM (#50324354)
I rather go with vibe coded machine language, YOLO! /s

Especially big kudos to the team that made XNA possible and the creative arcade, only to be killed later by the usual C++ advocacy group, replaced by the much less interesting DirectX TK.
I certainly am, only pointing out the comments vibe.

When someone commissions a painting, or a sculpture, they might cut the ribbon that holds the curtain on the opening day, that is all.

Very true, WASD only became a thing with FPS games.
Yes, that is exactly the fun, not contracting someone else to do it.
I started coding with Timex 2068, developed for embedded in a past life, thus I fail to see how complicated doing a simple cross compiler in C happens to be.

I also have developed C and C++ native libraries for Tcl, Python, .NET, Java JVM/ART (JNI), Node.js.
