On mobile it just drags. Doesnt chabge size
Re:Size-It-Up (Game) by slowcache on Friday November 06, 2026 @01:37PM (#50396399)
One finger to pick it up. Add another finger to scale
Re:Size-It-Up (Game) by theowaway213456 on Friday November 06, 2026 @01:49PM (#50396584)
There definitely needs to be instructions if on mobile
Re:Size-It-Up (Game) by xivzgrev on Friday November 06, 2026 @01:34PM (#50396369)
this is interesting but not so accessible - I have no conception of how big or small a power station turbine rotor is. I've only seen the pictures of statue of liberty and big ben with no banana for scale. so it's pure guessing, which is less fun.

why not more accessible things - a basketball hoop vs a delivery truck, a chicken egg vs a toilet, etc.

Re:Size-It-Up (Game) by gverrilla on Friday November 06, 2026 @01:42PM (#50396492)
+1 to that. the one with the egg for instance was great
Re:Size-It-Up (Game) by lopis on Friday November 06, 2026 @01:59PM (#50396751)
I guess that's part of the game...
Re:Size-It-Up (Game) by horsawlarway on Friday November 06, 2026 @02:00PM (#50396763)
The power station turbine one is particularly asinine because the size range is huge.

So they give you the name of the exact turbine, but like... how is that helpful. I don't know random german nuclear turbines by name, and looking it up just... tells me the size and makes the game pointless.

Re:Size-It-Up (Game) by marcduck on Friday November 06, 2026 @02:41PM (#50397334)
Maybe all the rounds could also have a human for scale
Re:Size-It-Up (Game) by muzani on Saturday November 07, 2026 @06:35AM (#50403639)
It gave me Golden Gate Bridge vs Tennis net. I have a decent idea of the size of these, but they don't even fit in the screen together. It might as well be Moon vs wombat.
Re:Size-It-Up (Game) by JeppyG on Friday November 06, 2026 @01:52PM (#50396636)
Fun little game. Had no idea big ben's clock face was so small though haha.
Re:Size-It-Up (Game) by garbagepatch on Friday November 06, 2026 @04:36PM (#50398847)
I don't know the size of the statue of liberty's book so I still don't have any idea what size the clock face is, just that they are similar in size.
Re:Size-It-Up (Game) by missingrib on Friday November 06, 2026 @05:27PM (#50399336)
I mean I knew that people could walk up and stand in the little nooks on her crown area so that gave me sort of a size comparison and I knew the book must be massive, way bigger than Big Ben's clock. It's a very big statue.
Re:Size-It-Up (Game) by skzo on Friday November 06, 2026 @02:14PM (#50396934)
The idea is interesting, but its too USA centric
Re:Size-It-Up (Game) by ediamondscience on Friday November 06, 2026 @02:45PM (#50397382)
What makes you say that? I'm in the USA and I don't think I've ever seen a meerkat, wombat, or a newborn panda cub in person. I think that was partially the point of the game though, wasn't it?
Re:Size-It-Up (Game) by pearcoder on Friday November 06, 2026 @04:09PM (#50398576)
I felt that too honestly. The concepts, the objects somehow hinted at this

Re:Size-It-Up (Game) by SamBam on Friday November 06, 2026 @06:06PM (#50399721)
I don't understand that at all.

There's the Statue of Liberty, and I guess a basketball hoop..?

Meanwhile there's a meerkat, egg, power plant turbine, Big Ben, wombat, panda, Chichen Itza and the Pyramid of the Sun, none of which are remotely USA centric.

An astronomical version would be fun. Planets, stars, galaxies, etc.

Now with countries, hehe
Re:Size-It-Up (Game) by IshKebab on Friday November 06, 2026 @04:06PM (#50398540)
Yeah the "new here" instructions are completely wrong on mobile.

Also the control could just be a slider. Much easier and simpler on all platforms.

Nice idea though.

Re:Size-It-Up (Game) by augment_me on Friday November 06, 2026 @05:20PM (#50399278)
This is great but the interface/UI needs some work.

I tried to max out the power turbine, and the grid did not follow and I assumed it hit the max size. I guess the action would be to zoom out and then further drag, but this is a bit annoying, same for zooming in past some scale.

Re:Size-It-Up (Game) by SamBam on Friday November 06, 2026 @06:10PM (#50399772)
Today's seemed randomly pretty hard, but I hit the archive button to try and yesterday's, and got all in the 80s and 90s.

It's more fun when you think you're skillful!

Re:Size-It-Up (Game) by docsaintly on Friday November 06, 2026 @07:33PM (#50400416)
I think the benefit of the game is lost when it's comparing two obscure objects to each other - many people won't know both, so it becomes more of a guessing game than accurate estimation.
Re:Size-It-Up (Game) by simpaticoder on Friday November 06, 2026 @07:51PM (#50400531)
I like it! But you should do biochemistry - atoms, acids, proteins, organelles, cells. I think people's intuition is WAY off and this game could help. In fact I one-shotted this: https://sites.google.com/view/scalecraft/full-page-embed (with argon)
Re:Size-It-Up (Game) by dofm on Friday November 06, 2026 @09:11PM (#50400989)
"Not bad - scale is harder than it looks."

Coincidentally, so is good web design.

One thing that really really annoys me about LLM-generated websites is that they have entrenched, without good reason, --webkit-font-smoothing: antialiased.

Also Claude, having evidently been tested by people exclusively under the age of 25, routinely chooses smaller font sizes and lower text contrast than makes any kind of sense.

Re:Size-It-Up (Game) by lincon127 on Friday November 06, 2026 @09:45PM (#50401128)
You need much better objects to guess between... I thought the entire thing was a joke after the second question.
