Sorry, I was talking about individual people, because you said “ we do symbolic things that do not matter”. Who is “we?” The Chinese engineers working on solar aren’t the same people working on coal.
Anyway, to your point here, I agree. But China is pivoting their entire economy, and that takes time. Obviously I hope all countries move faster, and undoubtedly it’s possible to move faster, so I do the best I can to help as one person
China continues to expand coal and fossil-fuel capacity—adding roughly 20 GW of coal power in early 2026 and seeing fossil emissions tick up 2% in Q1 2026—even as it leads the world in building massive amounts of solar, wind, and electric-vehicle infrastructure.
The stated goal is.
2030 Goals: China aims to peak carbon dioxide emissions before 2030, bring non-fossil fuels to 25% of total energy consumption, and peak coal and oil usage.
But that 25% is of a growing energy pool which means the co2 production will keep increasing and increasing as the total power generation grows.
If they double the power production but still keep 25% of it in carbon based they have doubled the co2 production.
