Since we're sharing anecdotes, I had a guy who couldn't pull my wisdom teeth. He really got in there with the pliers, got his leg up on the chair for leverage and was really yanking on it but it wouldn't give. He was a big guy too, really broke a sweat.

Finally he gave up but first he tried to talk me into going into a hospital for more heavy duty anesthetic. I was like nah.

An oral surgeon is a good goto when it is that difficult.

Unfortunately the public seems to be fairly unaware of what different dental specialties are until they are in serious duress.

You were lucky, I heard a story of a dentist who ended up breaking the patient's jaw while trying to pull a wisdom tooth out.

The pain in tooth makes you do these type of things.

I was similarly trying to extract tooth with pliers that was in pain, because the dentist that treated it did not clean it well enough, before filling it, so there was something left that caused inflammation and that was causing a pain. It eventually ceased(after couple of weeks of pain) - suggestion was to use antibiotics for that, or pain relief - I don't remember if I used any of those, but the teeth is still present. That was 20 years ago... I switched dentist though, which is natural, as I was completely pissed at him and was considering do actually physically harm him - maybe even murder him - all of that because of agonizing pain in teeth.
