Coventry??? Really? I mean .. it's fine for me ... I'm in Birmingham .. but still.. Coventry? I really don't want to hear about python devs getting stabbed by chavs!

Coventry? Fuck that. Travel in the UK is really expensive and thus it's better to do events centrally.

Really? The UK's centre of population [0] is apparently Appleby Parva in Leicestershire [1], which is less than 25 miles from Coventry [2].

Hmm, well it's only a 3 hour train journey, perhaps there will be some advance fares available.

Birmingham has good links. Not a beach in sight.

Most people go to conference on their employers dime, and the travel cost for most companies is just going to be a rounding error.

Sorry Coventry isn't suitable. For reference where would be central/convenient for you?

Disclosure: I'm a PyCon UK organizer.

Bit more South, near London, perhaps? Brighton also has an utterly thriving new-media scene.

Brighton? That doesn't seem like an easier location for people generally across the UK.

Will pricing be (roughly) the same as last year?
Re:PyCon UK 2012 by d0ugal on Tuesday May 29, 2012 @04:35PM (#4039693)
I would assume so, they do a good job of keeping the costs low and using the same venue will probably mean that.
Re:PyCon UK 2012 by moreati on Tuesday May 29, 2012 @07:38PM (#4040566)
Yes, the pricing will be very similar to 2011.

Awesome, it's great to see such a reasonable priced conference. Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend; the UCL term starts on the 26th of September. Hope it goes swimmingly anyway.

I can't remember there being a Tech centre there. Is this new(ish)? Coventry isn't all bad. There's some beautiful countryside around there. And it used to be fortified - an independent! It's just a shame they went all concrete jungle on the place.
