If you prefer GUIs, you can use the the new herdr desktop app :)
It will be good to get the remote feature in there though.
I've been using this for a few days now and it's absolutely fantastic.
Is this not destructuring a tuple?
Yeah it's really enjoyable to be able to take old, stale dependencies, and simply make them into something great, typesafe, ESM, well tested etc, without having to change the whole codebase.
I do enjoy the fact that if software annoys you, it’s easy as hell to simply generate a better version.

I am in the UK, and our government are kind of dogshit in terms of their approach to personal freedom and potentially could make moves to block VPNs. I believe that everyone should have not only unfiltered access to the internet, but the agency to control this and not be dependent on some sort of provider. This is a small project to make this available and easy to do, I will expand it into...
Everyone should own their entire chain to the wider internet, and everyone should have access to a chain that is horrifically hard or expensive to detect by governments (VLESS/Hysteria2/etc), and not be financially dependent on a provider in order to do it.
If they want to fuck with us, it's time to start fucking back.
It’s scary that people haven’t been able to move uphill though.
It is bizarre to me that servers are considered something to be “lost” in this day and age. They should as borderline ephemeral as us.
I'd be able to work for a lot less if I owned my home and food was cheap.
Honestly, rising house prices have fucked everything up.
Oh god, the jolts. They are horrible. They seem to get worse with screens and fluorescent office lights. The only thing that helps is going for a walk and necking some alcohol, which in turn, wrecks the sleep needed to actually fix them.
It's almost like having some sort of momentary seizure.
Perhaps it's a testament to the fact that life used to be full of things that made it a little nicer that have been ripped out in the name of efficiency and profit.
Look at how beautiful old buildings were. However, now everything is a box, because it is more efficient.
"I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of Baofengs suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced."
If we're plugging stuff, here's my little ecosystem I've been working on for about 8 months. It replaces (but is fully compatible with) navidrome/subsonic, iOS client, macOS client, tvOS client (with modern QR/code based login flow), WebUI, and soon, Android clients. Also supports local libraries.
Has neat stuff like remote-controlling other clients (zero conf/mdns/server relayed), modern user management (invite links, app passwords, api keys), the apps are pretty, low-resource, and consistent. Normal stuff like gapless, bit-perfect, share links, file-watching that is solid, etc.
Other killer feature is DSP/EQing that supports stuff like importing (or building) squig presets (great for IEM users), UPnP devices (from desktop, and
supports DSP for room corrections etc). Should be a tad more lightweight than navidrome (though I do love navidrome <3).

It's ok, they can use AI.
"Why is the computer playing weird noises"
"Claude is developing and testing a music app."
"Oh."

https://groglog.io
It’s designed for people who are alcohol dependent and want to get visibility and control over their drinking in order to cut down or stop. Fully offline, better features than many paid apps, and free/opensource as i don’t believe in profiting from misery https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/groglog-drink-tracker/id681713...it has stuff like burndown charts and tapering features to help people manage...
It’s good but I kinda disagree with them stuck issue. Getting stuck is frustrating and having an easy way to get unstuck
seems good.
However, the skill of having to try many different things and have patience and deal with an unproductive day and sleep in stuff, being able to pull yourself out of a hole, bootstrap deeper understanding in times when you feel helpless…it’s character building and incredibly valuable.
I feel like AI will allow people to have less resolve and determination, like looking at the crossword answers.
Unfortunately often the problem seems to be how a government can do more evil.
Absolutely love the fact that they reference a "real package manager" like npm, which has been used in countless supply chain attacks, and brew, which can also run arbitrary scripts (though less likely in the mainline brew stuff, which many packages aren't able to be in).
Avoiding curlbashing is masking a deeper problem.
Why can they simply not add more computer?
I just go with Claude recommends at this point.
:/
Well perhaps consider this before speaking my dude.
DHH has already written a bunch of pretty horrific stuff and this post was kind of the icing on the cake.
There might have been a wee lil' bit of context there.
>I get that some people feel strongly about fairness and justice,
Yes, as is common for anyone with a shred of decency.
> just as much about efficacy and being effective
And spoken like a god damn sociopath.
As a European and Londoner we absolutely have to speak up and be upset if companies support someone who’s said a whole load of awful shit and got away with it.
It’s not particularly complicated, actually.
I mean he bitched publicly that an llm wouldn’t translate his shitty racist article.
I go with rust/datastar.
I actually think JSX is better, but I am bored of it because we don't need state in JS no more.
