Despite the many threads complaining about obvious spam going through, I find Gmail better on average than Outlook and ProtonMail. It also categorise the constant spam of ads and social networks into folders I never check.

I have paid and free gmail accounts, paid one never ever gets a spam, but I'm having a spam mail with a pdf attachment as a spam once a week on free one.

But with my almost 10 years with Fastmail I had very small amounts of spam.

Outlook, you can adjust who can send you what and what times, all for free.

What type of spam are you getting?

Gmail is pretty solid. For the emails it misses, you can mark them as spam and it rarely misses similar emails again.

Low spam with Fastmail (5 per week?) however mileage will vary.

I've had good experience with Gmail.
