It's a nice impulse to try to explain the background to this story, but the gratuitous flamebait you tossed in is bad, and unfortunately the bad outweighs the good in these things.

Please eliminate nationalistic/political flamebait from your HN posts. It leads to nationalistic/political flamewars, which are hellish and exactly what we don't want here.
