Sweden has Swish, Norway has Vipps, etc. There is work ongoing to integrate systems from different countries to make them work together.

Well plain old wire transfers take 1 day internationally (inside the EU) and cost zero to 2 euro.

But needing the IBAN is inconvenient. That’s the main reason for the existence of national systems.
