Most recent criticism is about either: that they switched from selling licenses to subscriptions, that they stopped supporting self-hosting, that they use Electron, or that they financially support Omarchy/DHH.

I'm curious why you use Opus for planning and Sol for reviewing, instead of the same for both? Do you find they are better for those tasks?

What you don't one-shot rewrite your entire codebase every time a model comes out?

It's very well documented how to silence an Airtag, it doesn't take a drill.

How do you prompt it? It seems it would be difficult to describe a 3d geometry correctly just with text. Do you provide hand-made sketches?

The first thing I look for on that kind of page is a screenshot. Those shouldn't be so far down. Also way before showing your app, you show a massive video of a leaf, that's not what people are looking for.
Re:Thunderbird for iOS

It has a few annoyances. For example it doesn't let you see which email address the sender used, or to which of your email addresses it was sent, instead it only shows the person's name. Also it can't attach pictures without having them inline.
Re:Mozilla Introduces Firefox Enterprise
on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @04:11PM (#50077954)
Exactly. My company mandates Chrome or Edge with no extensions for work, and the SSO only works with these. I use Firefox in the side for browsing because IT doesn’t control it and I can block ads.

It's getting more common but it's still not practical.
Typically on the web you need to select your bank, get redirected to your bank's website with a pre-filled transfer you validate, approve 2FA on your phone app, and then the purchase gets confirmed only 1 or 2 business days later when the transfer gets received.
I see small businesses just give you their IBAN too, and you need to manually add it and make a transfer. Not seamless at all.

My company is on Enterprise Plus, and we're still on 3.6 flash.
Re:Gemini 4 Argon
on Thursday October 01, 2026 @08:58AM (#49921023)
I also only have access to 3.6 flash on both my free personal account, and my professional Enterprise account.
Google just takes months to roll out their models to everyone.

Same thing. I'm sure a subscription would be better value if I had enough usage, but I don't. With Deepseek or similar a few $ is quite a bit of usage already.

In a corporate context it's basically impossible for employees to host an app anywhere. So an app that works entirely locally and you can send to colleagues sounds useful.

It doesn't work that much on sites which organize comments in a tree, like HN or Reddit. You can just fold that part of the thread.
Re:Gemini 3.8 Live and 3.8 Live Extended Thinking
on Wednesday September 16, 2026 @05:44AM (#49724073)
Google takes a long time to roll out models in general. Both my personal and work accounts still have only 3.6 Flash, even though 3.8 was released 2 weeks ago and 3.7 more than a month ago.

Re:Google no longer provides direct URLs in search results
on Saturday September 12, 2026 @08:03AM (#49671454)
The 300 searches a month work for me because I only use Kagi when I think it will give better results than others. And most searches are trivial so any free engine will do (like you have the website name and want the url).
Re:Muse: Meta's personal AI agent, features and capabilities

Lots of companies have security policies that forbid installing a local agent/harness. So employees still only have access to the web chat interface, and copy paste content yes.

But you still need to store the login and version number for each domain in a database. And provide the secret key. At this point you might as well store the encrypted password along with the rest.

There are ads in the Apps Store, and in Maps. Also ads for iCloud subscriptions in the settings if you don't use it.
