Customer wants every 12 hours; customer wants uniform load on the server. You do a refresh at startup, one after a random (0-12) interval, then every 12 hours. Is that a random shift?
But this is C, they're busy porting the patch to Rust...
> Anthropic says it built a working exploit that gets root on a server. A total takeover.
No offense but Anthropic says that every time.
Well you may want to know that Ubuntu LTS releases are based on Debian unstable, not even testing...
I've just convinced my team to be nice and add a random delay for all those periodic checks in our software last week :)
Yes of course, there was the check at 2 am local time before ...
Hmm I skipped the low contrast OS versions, I'm still on Sequoia. Perhaps this is a new bug introduced by the "let's make the UI worse for no reason" team?
> Too much context confuses the LLM. Reduce unnecessary context and performance improves. Not to mention, too much context and you just run out of vram.
I don't think you can reduce context enough on a local LLM to get performance comparable to a 500k context without those reductions...
Hmm another gripe of mine. Mac OS's vnc brings a popup that steals your focus when someone connects to the machine while you're physically in front of it.
I know it's well intentioned but I have this weird setup where I am almost constantly keeping vnc on from my laptop to my desktop. And the mbpro randomly wakes up to do whatever, even when not used, which reactivates the vnc connection, which pops up a warning on my desktop, which steals my focus.
Anyone knows a way to disable that? Possibly just for connections from a specific other machine.
Edit: as for this app, I think the OS only asks once for a new app? I don't remember being asked a second time even when denying it.
I could also whine a bit about "this app wants to access files on a removable volume" since my desktop has a thunderbolt ssd plugged in for extra space...
> The increasingly aggressive policing of questions, closing perfectly reasonable discussions, and incorrectly saying questions are duplicates made the platform unnecessarily hostile to everyone, qmd at least thats why i quit.
This. Way before LLMs.
Hmm I don't do bird watching so I'm assuming it's not entirely passive, as in you need to sneak up on the birds to watch them. Even if sneaking is only coming in binoculars range.
If you sit on a chair on your porch and watch whatever birds happen to come by, it's still bird watching?
Good and cheap if you have the budget to buy IBM?
> different preference for tidiness/organization
Preference indeed. Us people whose desks look like 3 minutes after a bomb fell usually know exactly what is on that desk and can reach for it without looking.
Anything that forces you to
use your brain rewires the brain and slows cognitive decline, i'd think.
Anything that's not passive "content consumption" perhaps.
May I suggest that if you have a message, you put it in text above the endless scrolling comic panels?
And if you do comics that size, please think of the poor laptop/desktop users and lay out more on one line...
That does sound like the original Dune, however the Titans reference sounds like a group of supervillains that are indistinguishable from other supervillains from Marvel or DC, and I sure hope Frank Herbert was better than that.
You are not talking about Frank Herbert's Dune, you are talking about Kevin J Anderson's Dune if you mention those Butlerian Jihad details.
I doubt Frank Herbert would have come up with such a simple story. The reason no one discusses this is because it's not worth discussing.
Ok so in theory you'll get the best results on Wikipedia in the local language... if the locals have bothered to fill in Wikipedia.
> There’s not really a linux feature that’s just “containers” either. Instead, containers are really 5 different linux kernel features in trenchcoat.
Well said. At some point i was toying with doing a http server that will containerize itself on top of the directory it's serving and put it on the back burner because the list of features needed seemed never ending.
The Special:Nearby feature seems to support changing the language. nearbywiki.org is just English while the OP has a language switch but it's limited.
Now I'm not sure if switching the language pulls in more results or just changes the article language...
> I still don't think that required multiplayer at launch,
It did. I read the reviews.
> but even if it did, that did not last long at all.
Don't care. It's EA's shitty attitude to players in general, and this is just one more example. I'm old enough to remember when they bought PopCap and made bejeweled IAP based after i paid once for it.
> to see any endings
Not "any" but the "best" ending at the least.
> You did miss out not playing the multiplayer mode in my opinion. It was very fun!
Wasn't it basically a competitive FPS? I don't want a competitive FPS in my single player RPG. Especially when it's made mandatory for the best ending.
Personally I stopped after Dragon Age 1 / Mass Effect 2.
Mainly because ME3's original ending was tied to you grinding in multiplayer to reach the single player goals. No thank you.
And Dragon Age 2 was more famous for copy/paste dungeons than for the actual game.
So... i just stopped looking at "the new Bioware".
Umm the next draws like 3 watts without a display. Which is still 3x less than the original zx spectrum.
And at how many days or minutes does it turn from security into security theater?
If we follow this line of thought it would be more secure to only serve sites to consumers through a few "trusted" third parties right?
Obvious in hindsight, shows how much of a BSD noob I am :)
Whoa, openbsd has 3d hardware drivers? Only open source i guess, no official drivers?
> duration of 1 year or longer
Let's Encrypt is bringing the duration of certs down not up. I believe their goal is 30 minutes validity.
How "provably"? Running a few benchmarks?
Interesting... for motorola palms or did it need an arm palm?
> to LLMs that haven't been trained how to use it
A LLM will probably have trouble with C if it had no training in C and you just dumped the specs as part of the prompt...
