Gestalt is used in various contexts, like the psychology (especially the psychology of perception). Here's wiktionary:
A collection of physical, biological, psychological or symbolic elements that creates a whole, unified concept or pattern which is other than the sum of its parts, due to the relationships between the parts (of a character, personality, entity, or being) quotations
It's also used that way in German, aside from its regular meaning: https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gestalt

In contemporary American English (the only language I claim to be somewhat familiar with), they mean the exact same thing - I would say a sort of collective, unspoken understanding of a subject. English is kind of a crazy language I think.

A holistic view of a situation - an image viewed / unearthed / discovered via composition of various aspects.
Like, "Zeitgeist" seems to be used like I would in German (although far more frequently).
What am I missing? Is there some subtle difference in meaning via Yiddish or similar?
