Yep. Kind of like police being dispatched to a crime in progress instead of a general patrol.
Are engineers more thorough and thoughtful in Michigan?
Re:Sony launches a taxi-hailing app in Tokyo on Thursday June 20, 2019 @02:05PM (#20235502)
How long ago was this? In the past couple of years, I believe the backend systems have been integrated so you can use Tokyo-specific cards in Osaka and vice versa

Re:End of Apple on Tuesday January 22, 2019 @05:40PM (#18973367)
I don't think Apple's been credibly accused of committing massive fraud?

They could have your money if you did what you were supposed to do?

Government meddling on government-build roads?
What difference does this make?
Might some truths be incontrovertible beyond business reasons?
Yes--absolutely. There are a lot of video tutorials for React, but it feels that there's a lack of written guides at the moment. Not everyone learns best from videos, so having more choices to learn is huge. You should go for it.
Re:Barack Obama: Why we must rethink solitary confinement on Tuesday January 26, 2016 @01:31AM (#10972154)
The President can only pardon those convicted of federal criminal crimes committed against the United States. This new policy will only affect those in federal prisons (in which the President has purview) and why this measure is more limited in scope.
Switching to stronger and lighter materials has certainly helped. There's new tech like blindspot monitoring and backup cameras in almost every vehicle now, and even rather simple stuff that's been around for awhile (like daytime running lights and having a center brake light) makes a huge difference.
Re:Airline Baggage Fees Are a Good Deal for Travelers on Tuesday November 24, 2015 @03:35PM (#10623489)
It seems this analysis is forgetting the revenue made by the airline by selling tickets to passengers. If it's too expensive to check a bag, the airline will have empty seats and a lot more empty space wasted.
Re:Friends at Work? Not So Much on Saturday September 05, 2015 @03:57AM (#10174247)
Try a response of "Hey, how's it going?" or something similar. I think it works fairly well. If the person actually wants to talk, you can get them started. If they don't, then you don't feel like a schmuck if you gave a real answer that they didn't care about.
I have found a fair number of companies don't have their hiring process figured out in any meaningful way. It sucks to feel like you've wasted a lot of time interviewing (not to mention any excitement about the opportunity and its possibilities), but you should take solace in the fact that you do not now work at a company where they have these kinds of issues. Keep your head up!
Re:The sad state of sysadmin in the age of containers on Wednesday April 22, 2015 @09:36AM (#9420269)
I think, occasionally, it's a lot easier to grok a command through googling than reading the built-in help. A fair amount of built-in *nix documentation I have run across is mediocre or unhelpful.

Don't worry, German also has a word for the number.
