Check out Chezmoi (https://chezmoi.io). They even offer a nice comparison table for alternatives.

Same for me, I also have astigmatism and issues with dark themes. Thanks for the insight!
Re:When Is a Scrape a Breach? on Thursday December 23, 2021 @04:33AM (#29660189)
Would not that definition make for example a novel use of an API a breach? It is not what the publisher expected, but someone else was creative and used the available data in a new fashion.
Re:EU Commission to open source software on Friday December 10, 2021 @12:35PM (#29512802)
Rather that the Commission does not want to pay consultancy companies time and time again for the same code.
Where do you find the information that it will be illegal?
More likely the MVP covered all the basics that the platform should do. Then all the rest of the legal requirements had to be implemented and that broke it. Support for secret identities, all the special needs, support for non employees, legal guardians and a million other things which is important for the last 5%. It would probably be cheaper to give those with special requirements personal support than to write the code for it
Re:I like e-readers now on Tuesday September 21, 2021 @08:51AM (#28604550)
I have the exact same experience. Like many readers here on HN i love to get new gadgets. I've been looking for an upgrade for several years now just for the sake of it. But, the device is still rock solid and newer ones don't add any relevant additional extra value to motivate the decision. Since I read several books per week my Kobo Auro One is the single best purchase I've ever made. :)
Re:Calendso: An open source Calendly alternative on Thursday April 15, 2021 @05:21AM (#26818118)
It took me quite a long time to find out what the product actually does. There is a lot of info on why to choose it, but only a quote from a customer mentions that it is a "scheduling & booking platform".

I'm still not sure that's what it is, but I'll take Mehmet Arziman's word for it.

There are other values than monetary which also should be considered. Fixing the old machine will not produce waste, transports etc and will also provide a livelyhood to someone.
I have the same issue. I guess it might be due to my adblocker . It feels like it lowers the credibility of the initiative.
This could serve as a good example of how politicians manipulate voting areas to ensure majorities. The results are probably correct, but the result is misleading.
> Yes, but also companies exist literally only to make money.

No, this is a misconception. Companies are a part of society and exists for several other reasons.

Re:A Guide to Managing Remote Teams on Friday March 13, 2020 @04:57AM (#22565779)
Free for the price of my email address?
I am not aware of any serious competition. But it seems like a fairly simple product for a startup to create, and the market is probably huge.

Re:Calibre 4.0 on Friday October 04, 2019 @09:43AM (#21157567)
That must be a very long time ago. It worked fine with my Kindle 3 which was released in 2010

Re:History Will Not Be Kind to Jony Ive on Friday June 28, 2019 @10:34AM (#20304678)
You've just made the best argument for why we need to regulate the free markets.
Here in Sweden I've noted that some sellers have started adding a Swish-number for payments. Swish is a Swedish payment service where you basically send money to a phone number. This is great since the only risk for the seller now is the produce. The cash can not be stolen.
And in Sweden we're removing the coins since the customers no longer carry cash...
If Spotify didn't give you all data with your first request I guess that they are in breach of GDPR?
Re:Lab-grown diamonds threaten viability of the real gems on Friday March 09, 2018 @10:44AM (#16552483)
Spend your money on good craftmanship instead. The work of a skilled jeweller lasts much longer than any stone.

Re:Study Finds No Gender Gap in Tech Salaries on Thursday March 03, 2016 @02:03PM (#11219110)
It would be interesting to see what the results are if they remove the constraint of job title.

A tech organization probably has more similar salaries for the same types of jobs than many other types of business does.

Re:Sony Terms with Spotify Uncovered in Contract on Monday May 25, 2015 @12:39PM (#9600665)
Just curious, do you feel that Spotify or your label is to blame?
Perhaps your assumptions are wrong? Not everything should be measured against a monetary value standard.
Re:How Betty, Who Is 89, Gets Her News on Wednesday March 11, 2015 @05:19PM (#9187393)
Give Betty one of those silly little touch pens for her browsing. My elderly father uses one of those and he swears by it.

It improves his precision not just by being familiar but also because it lets him be accurate and precise.
