You can check out our personal cloud software Tonido (http://www.tonido.com). It organizes all your music, video collection and makes it available from anywhere. We have very good mobile apps for iOS, Android and even for Windows 8. You don't need to take our word. Just check the app ratings and reviews in app stores.
Re:Dropbox for business on Thursday November 14, 2013 @09:55AM (#6732597)
Dropbox for Business is still a public cloud service. The reality is we live in information economy where information and intellectual property is a first order citizens for any business. So storing your organization data to a public cloud (whether it is dropbox or some other service) is equivalent to giving keys to your organization's treasure trove. Also Dropbox being a high profile target, if the service hacked for some reason, it puts your organization data at risk in inadvertently.

We have built Tonido FileCloud (http://www.getfilecloud.com) to specifically address this use case where organizations can self host their own Enterprise File Share and Sync platform.

Re:Self-hosted, Enterprise File Sharing and Sync Platform on Monday August 26, 2013 @10:41AM (#6277338)
Mainly for enterprises who want to keep control over data and IP assets. You will be surprised to know how many enterprises need a solution like this.

Re:U.S. cloud firms face backlash from NSA spy programs on Thursday July 25, 2013 @10:49PM (#6106288)
At Tonido, we got a following mail from a customer a week back.

" We are sorry but recent developments and news in regard to the NSA PRISM program and the Patriot Act have made us decide no longer to use any cloud solution developed or hosted by a US company. You can remove our information from your database."

Even though, Our Tonido software is a self hosted one and totally orthogonal to Google Drive or dropbox in principle and in operation, we do get the shaft unfairly.

We gotta say this. We have never been a fan of pg's essays.

BUT THIS ONE IS GEM. Probably the Best. Also remember, even after doing all this there is no guarantee that your startup will succeed. But this one has all the optimal paths.

Re:Plug: the brain of your devices on Thursday July 11, 2013 @03:35PM (#6028593)
You are right. They have done a great job on the copy.
Re:Plug: the brain of your devices on Thursday July 11, 2013 @03:18PM (#6028468)
Using tonido, one can replicate 2 plugs in different locations.

Don't take us wrong. We wish them good luck. Just pointing out it is not a technology problem. The problem is to handle complexity when you try to do a lot of things.

Re:Plug: the brain of your devices on Thursday July 11, 2013 @02:26PM (#6028063)
All these are already done by our Tonido (http://www.tonido.com) and TonidoPlug project and it is available and it works.
This specific instance in the screenshot has been fixed (this is the second time). Basically, in this specific instance if the "Login" button is changed to localize to a specific keyword "Connexion" as part of french translation, it shows up. No other keyword triggers it.. and no way to find out what the heck chrome wants.

It is like playing proverbial whack-a-mole. Every update of chrome can potentially change their "heuristic" that thinks it has "found" a phishing attack.. and we have to scramble to see what the heck caused it and fix it.

This would be funny if it wasn't so detrimental to a business. I will get the dev to recreate this on dev1 and post it.

At tonido, we plan to build a system similar to yours to handle our incoming leads. We would appreciate if you have put up a pricing page probably with a free trial for a week. We wont trust a free service.
If you want to run your personal cloud please check us out at tonido.com. we have an awesome workspace that can take care of your tasks, calendar and contacts, dropbox like sync and really good mobile apps for ios and android. We don't have mail app though. But tonido is a platform and so something to consider in our roadmap.
Re:BitTorrent’s Secure Dropbox Alternative Goes Public on Tuesday April 23, 2013 @04:22PM (#5597717)
If you are a photographer, Our Tonido (http://www.tonido.com) solution is simply perfect. It is not expensive as dropbox, and no storage limits, supports variety of photo formats (JPEG, PNG, GIF, CR2, NEF, CRW and more). As dropbox, we have good mobile apps for all the popular platforms. Pretty much majority of our paid users are photographers.
The service looks very similar to our Build-your-own- Dropbox service Tonido Cloud (http://www.tonido.com/cloud/).

We have evaluated Java for the client side like AeroFS. But decided against it and went with a native client.

Use our Tonido server instead (http://www.tonido.com/ios/). Less adventurous though :-)
Re:I mortgaged my future with a Mac on Saturday February 23, 2013 @02:04PM (#5270989)
Use our tonido software to stream your itunes playlist from anywhere! :)
Re:SelfCloud - Your own cloud on Wednesday February 13, 2013 @10:41AM (#5213578)
Our Tonido Personal Cloud software (http://www.tonido.com) and sync clients offers exactly the same (Like dropbox but on your own server) on all the OS'es (Windows, Mac and Linux). We also have awesome mobile apps for iOS, Android, Windows 7.5 and Blackberry.
We have a document/file preview in our iOS app and web interface ( http://www.tonido.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/iOS-Si...), similar to dropbox. Our customers really love the file preview part. It will be a good feature for dropbox as well.
Re:BitTorrent reveals Sync, a new file synchronization tool on Friday January 25, 2013 @01:55PM (#5117005)
We do this in Tonido as well. Using your primary computer as a sync server and sync clients in all your other devices.

Your data is completely private and secure. Since it is a sync and have the same files on all your connected devices you really don't need 3rd party cloud storage systems like dropbox. Because often the argument is made for public clouds that it provides offline backup not only sync.

Many small businesses use the product especially who have sales personnel in the field.

Tonido is self hosted. So you can run yourself. But it is not open source.
Re:Why I'm Quitting Instagram on Monday December 31, 2012 @01:38PM (#4990278)
Very practical reason to quit using multiple online services. Once personal data leaves your computer there is no guarantee what form it will take.

Check our personal cloud service Tonido (www.tonido.com). You will like it and no question of data ownership ever.
