Re:Ask HN: How would you prepare a tablet for an apocalypse on Tuesday November 03, 2026 @04:35AM (#50349878)
Apocalypse = paper and pencil. Maybe protected with some plastic.
I used to be a coder like you, but then I took a Claude to the knee.
Re:Ask HN: What're You Reading? on Friday October 02, 2026 @03:13AM (#49930686)
Just finished Undo Redo by Scalini and Maponi, and I started Separazioni by Simone Amorino.

Both in Italian, both masterpieces of contemporary sci-fi. Separazioni might need another pass of editing, but it's strikingly good nonetheless.

Re:Ask HN: What are you reading to your kids? on Thursday October 01, 2026 @05:13AM (#49919481)
The Hobbit
I'm never going to give it access to my email or anything like that.
It won't work most of the time though
Re:Transformers Explained Visually on Tuesday September 22, 2026 @04:58AM (#49798301)
I regret nothing.
Re:Transformers Explained Visually on Tuesday September 22, 2026 @03:58AM (#49797945)
This is not about Optimus Prime and the gang, is it?
Re:North Korean nuclear test sets off years of earthquakes on Friday September 18, 2026 @11:54AM (#49756227)
Basically, they gave their land Atrial Fibrillation through strong extrasystoles.
Re:Anyone miss a flip phone with buttons? Anyone? on Thursday September 10, 2026 @04:24AM (#49640246)
No CarPlay / Android Auto is a deal breaker for me
I honestly am more worried and uneasy about the actions of the president of a certain powerful nation.
Re:Is it just me, or has Claude Opus gotten worse recently? on Tuesday September 01, 2026 @08:33AM (#49521097)
I mean, only yesterday Fable at max effort forgot to commit and push half the changes in two files and didn't mention it until I found out with git status.

It made half the changes, committed and pushed, then it made the other half of the changes on the same two files as before and... just stopped and reported back with a cheerful "all good, all done and pushed".

Re:Building a backyard office, the build and cost breakdown on Wednesday August 26, 2026 @03:53AM (#49445406)
I don't know. That's a wooden shed, while my house is brick and concrete with a common European armored door and roller shutters.
Re:Building a backyard office, the build and cost breakdown on Tuesday August 25, 2026 @10:55AM (#49435254)
I always think about it, but then I remember I couldn't sleep knowing my tech stuff is inside a shed in the backyard. Too easy to break in and steal it.
"Best iPhone ever" vibes.
That's not going to work in the South. Demand adapted buildings, housing, and AC where applicable.
I find such maps overwhelming and a detriment to how I learn things. I suppose I'm not exactly neurotypical, then?

Omigod.
Re:Ask HN: When and why did you start believing in God? on Wednesday May 27, 2026 @11:04AM (#48295452)
Started at, idk, 2yo because everyone around me believed. Stopped at 18yo once I was old enough to actually understand reality.
Spoiler: Europeans use whatever their banks provide.
Awesome! No BeOS, or MSX?
Re:Claude for Small Business on Thursday May 14, 2026 @04:55AM (#48132774)
Let me get this straight: a few times per month, someone posts horror stories about how Claude led to losing data and money.

Anthropic's response: let's make a nice package out of this, and let's target specifically the businesses that are less likely to be ready to manage such horrible events.

Re:Ask HN: Do you know the ethics of Developers? on Monday May 11, 2026 @08:45AM (#48094253)
My own ethics are don't work for defence / war / weapons, don't work for gambling, don't work for alchool, tobacco, and the like.
Re:Where the Goblins Came From on Thursday April 30, 2026 @04:45AM (#47959852)
That "Why it matters" heading is starting to make me feel physically sick.
Re: on Thursday April 30, 2026 @04:35AM (#47959804)
I guess competitors really are after them these days.
Re:Cook: A simple CLI for orchestrating Claude Code on Thursday March 19, 2026 @07:01AM (#47437405)
Re: So if there is no permission to `rm -rf /`, Claude will just get denied and move on.

Until it doesn't and it finds a way to work around the restriction. Lots of stories around about that.

Re:Writing code is cheap now on Tuesday February 24, 2026 @10:50AM (#47138620)
