This is really a good buy for Microsoft. Yammer has the potential to eventually penetrate most of the medium to large enterprises. I have used it and it really is great tool for multi-location organizations.
I really hate these types of employees. First of all they raise employer's expectations that all the other workers will be willing to put in free hours for them. Second by working for 130 hours they are basically taking away jobs from 2 other people who could be gainfully employed if these types of employees worked a normal schedule. Obviously the counterpoint is that these guys really loved their work so much that they didn't really mind. But in that case isn't it better that they do some charity work, help more needy people rather than helping fill the coffers of mega corporations.
Thanks for all the suggestions. I am adding few more things that I forgot earlier -
Stress Testing - ???
App Distribution - Zubhium
App Marketing - AdMob, AppSurfer, AppBrain
Also, is there some service that can provide initial validation of an idea. I need some service through which I can contact 20 users and ask them if they will use a particular app and if so how much will they pay for it and what features they would like?

Let us say if familiarity with a technology stack is not a prerequisite which technology stack will be your choice for a web application. This application needs to integrate with external websites and also needs to be written using minimal investment of money. The application will be used by thousands of users per day. What will your choice?
This is what I don't like about Google. They would like to extract content from others for free and then use it for their own profit. But they don't allow others to extract content from their sites or charge exorbitantly to use their APIs. They give something for free only if they can make money by selling ads or if they can capture user behavior.
So why did Google create so much hoopla when China was doing something similar? China does not like something on the internet so they filter the content, Google does not like something they remove it. At a high level it is the same thing.
This is coming from the very highest levels of government. So your logic about ill-equipped offices or inadequate training does not apply to them. They are billionaires many time over. The minister who is the brain behind this legislation is one of highest paid lawyers in India so you can't assume that he is not able to comprehend the digital laws and their consequences. They are taking these measures to stifle the voice of middle class which is most vociferous against corruption. So your attempt to generate needless sympathy for them is unfortunately not grounded in reality.
This is Govt Of India's pavlovian response to whenever they feel threatened by any entity. Their first response is to slap an Income Tax notice on them. They did the same thing to some of the anti corruption league members when their movement became too popular for govt's comfort. But for some strange reasons they are very protective of people who have stored trillions of ill-gotten assets overseas even though the foreign governments are ready to provide the information.

I am planning to write an app which should run on iOS, Android and also on a web browser.
The app needs to use camera as well as GPS.
I also want the app to be available from appstores.
I understand that I need to use HTML5 and other mobile web technologies. IS there some framework that can make writing such an app easier, preferably, having only a single codebase.
So all the sleazy policies are ok now as Zynga has been proclaimed to be a meritocracy by Mark Pincus. Nothing to see here folks, please move on!

Or do you first go full steam ahead, create a prototype of the idea and then look at other websites to see how they have solved that problem? With some ideas I feel that if you start with looking at competing websites, you will get discouraged that someone has already solved that problem. Also, after looking at other website, the mind tries to confine its creativity to what it has already...
Thanks for your reply. Is there some ad network specially targetting local ads?

I am thinking of creating a community website to undertake community improvement intiatives. I am curious to find out what options are available in order to make sure that the site is able to sustain itself. The possible options I am thinking of are - Asking for donation
Google Ads
Referral links to Amazon etc.
Are there any other means of making some small revenues for these types...

I am planning to start work on a new startup. But I don't have funds to pull me thru for more than 6 months. If I am able to get angel funding in that time, can I ask for some reasonable salary as part of the investment? Or can salary be included only in the VC rounds. I am very new to this and just want to find out how to go about it?
