Khalistanis are the fringe elements promoted by your favourite country Pakistan.

Keep supporting terrorists and murderers, do whataboutery when encountered with facts and play victim after committing a crime. Over n out!

>> They are trying to say whatever happened is her fault and not the consequence of a social media influencer framing<<

That’s their tried and tested modus-operandi. You check any major terror incidents in India or abroad, Islamists use the same playbook.

If they are mocking someone’s religion it is their “freedom of speech” , if it is the opposite, Charlie Hebdo or Nupur Sharma will be done to you.

>> You only need 35% to win in Indias multiparty elections.<<

That reinforces my point.

>>This is enabled because EVMs<<

This EVM story has been peddled by your ilk ad-infinitum but with no substance.

If that were the case, BJP should be winning all state elections right? Delhi, WestBengal, Rajasthan…

So as and when party of your choice win, EVMs are good when opposition party wins , oh they are manipulated.

Few months back, in a similar fashion a Hindu Don was encountered by the UP cops. All Hindus still supported the cops. For people like you, if the person is a Muslim irrespective of whether he is a terrorist, serial murderer he should be supported at any cost.

And don’t club Sikhs and Dalit among yourself to look good. They have a far larger contribution to society and don’t cry victimhood at any given opportunity.

>> Nobody is claiming that Nupur Sharma deserves any retribution beyond expulsion from her position.

This is your assumption. They are baying for her blood. These Islamic fanatics have already tried several attempts on her. In one case even two Pakistan trained terrorists were employed for the job. Intelligence bureau caught hold of them in time.

And guess what Muslim fanatics have butchered few Hindus already on this issue. These were the normal people who simply liked or expressed support for Nupur.

The amazing thing is that even after killings, these fanatics cry victim hood.

For those crying oceans, read this Twitter thread. These two “undertrials” were monsters of the worst kind who killed anyone with impunity. Shame on people who support such monsters just because they happen to share the same religion. https://twitter.com/Sanity_3/status/1647304754002010113?s=20
At the end of the day one is a human being who gets triggered on repeated offensive things. If you look-up, what she said was not incorrect since several Islamic scholars make the same claim. I guess the aggressive tone in what she said made all the difference.

For the record, Nupur does not represent any constituents in the purest sense. She was the spokesperson, that’s it. She is neither an MP nor MLA.

If you watch the full debate, the Muslim panelists were continuously mocking Hindu Gods, Nupur got fed up and replied to them in the similar manner.

What this fact checker cunningly did was to edit out the Muslim panellist mocking and simply showed her part of the clip. He has a mass following in Islamic nations and it got blown out of proportion.

Of course when you come here with a half-baked knowledge and accuse someone* of astroturfing , one has to call you out.

By your own admission, for the first time you heard Nupur’s name, you did a quick search and within minutes you reached the conclusion what you wanted to reach.

Since when asking to understand the issue in depth - rather than a 2 mins cursory look up - racism?

No, I mean people with loads of common sense who can tell you both side of the story.

>> Not Indian Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Dalits or Shudras who form greater than 50% of the Indian population.

Acc to you, if they are more than 50% AND not happy with Modi, why is Modi winning back to back elections and almost certain to come to power again in 2024?

The last part is a common knowledge. Don’t worry.
The fact that you have to search for the name shows you are not enough clued in about what is happening in India. Wish you take some time out and get the facts straight from some Indian friends to understand both side of the story. It will become a long comment, all I can say , BBC, NyTimes etc has some axe to grind with the current dispensation.
The 2 brothers who were killed were notorious gangsters involved in 100+ cases of murders, loot, kidnapping etc. At least read-up before trying to win with your ignorance.

India has Buddhists, Parsis, Jains, Zoroastrian as “true” minorities. They don’t have any problems in India. In fact they are among the most prosperous folks. Why is that only Muslims have problem everywhere on the globe? France, US, UK, Israel and the list goes on.

Since Modi came to power in 2014 there has been no civilian-terror incident anywhere across the country. During the earlier regime, bomb blasts became a quarterly event. They were so busy with corruption filling their coffers, didn’t bother about national security.

If this is “fascism” as you say, majority of the Indians are happy living under it.

The “independent fact checker” you are talking about is well known for whitewashing horrific crimes done by radical Muslims in India and abroad. He was the one who manipulated a video and single handedly unleashed terrorists gunning for Nupur Sharma’s blood. Imagine a spokesperson of the ruling party is in hiding for more than 8-9 months now!

Can’t really say if the YT comments section is fixed.

I follow some stand up comics in India. In one glance you can make out that most of the top comments are fake.

This. You said it in better words (than my comment).

>Throwaway can explain everything

Calling out names won't help your case sir.

Read about eligibility criteria of any such insti. It is exactly the analogy I have described above.

Here is the one for NEET (Medical entrance exam in India) - https://medicine.careers360.com/articles/neet-eligibility-cr...

This is where most General category folks have the pet peeve with the government.

Gen folks won't mind if govt spends, gives them scholarship, exclusive tuitions to the deprived ones BEFORE such exams BUT let them compete with the same starting and finish line.

India is run by populist measures with an unending eye on the next elections. (This is irrespective of governments or whichever party is ruling.)

> So what is it? Read about the mindboggling misuse of SC/ST act and you will have your answer. It is so highly misused that Supreme Court of India had to intervene and dilute it but govt under immense pressure had to pass an ordinance within a week of that judgement to negate it.

Re:India’s caste system limits diversity in science on Thursday January 12, 2023 @11:02AM (#34355520)
Yes. OBC ~ 52%, SC/ST ~ 22%. Rest General.

(Though it refers to a 1983 report but more or less this proportion remain the same.)

This is a poorly researched article that just put forward one side of the story.

Ask the general category students about it and they will tell you how they are deprived of opportunities because of quota system.

For those unaware of quota system in India, in easy words, it is somewhat similar to this analogy-

There is a 100m race. 'General' category, SC/ST category, OBC category participates in that same race.

For General category start line is a 0 mark and finish line at 100m mark. For OBC start line is at 10m mark and finish line at 90m mark. For SC/ST start line is at 20m mark and finish line at 80m mark.

This makes it easy for an OBC, SC/ST to enter in any top university they want. It is after entering the institute, they are unable to cope up with the rigor and fail or drop out. That is when this "victim" picture is painted by them. Ask an IIT/NIT/IIM/Doctor/IISc student in your circle about it and they will tell you the other side of the story.

Successive Indian govts have taken several measures to ensure they are not deprived. Today the scenario is that if a general category person, even by mistake, calls them out with certain words, there is an instant jail with no provision of bail.

Ford lost money because it couldn’t understand the Indian market not the reason you cited above.

Hyundai and other foreign companies are shining in India.

A single source of truth for me.

Wow, never knew about this case!

One should never underestimate an opponent!

I agree with you here. However, they may not want to go to court for the smallest of things. I mean other than money there are other issues associated with going to court. Bad press, reputation etc.

PS: I have never been nor ever intend to be in this situation by cyber-squatting but you never know what can happen with existing domain names that I have with me for projects that may see a light sometime.

Ask HN: What is that amount where a big company won’t bother to sue me?

So I was reading this thread https://twitter.com/cryptofelon/status/1548049090490953728?s=20&t=JuA1NrodiAOfZ67fFMfZhgIt is difficult to make out who is on the wrong side here but it set me wondering if I happen to possess some domain and a big company comes after me, what is that max amount where they won’t bother to sue me? (Perhaps the legal fee and associated headache is more than the...

Since when countering half truths is known as an attack?

Since when countering lack of knowledge is known as a fallacy?

I have answered each and every half-truth filled query of yours. You chose to play victim when you found you were left with no answers.

Someone more sensible and mature would have apologized and moved-on for this sheer lack of knowledge about the issue and the country.

Perhaps I should have stopped myself when you used the term "jury" in Indian context.

Keep basking in the glory of your ignorance and keep playing a victim card!

- You come with lack of knowledge of the issue in the discussion.

- You present half truths

- You cast aspersions on Indian judiciary because supposedly Hindus will only support Hindus.(I am giving you a benefit of doubt and took liberty to convert “jury” to judiciary. If you really meant jury you should never ever discuss India)

When I call that out and also tried telling you what actual minority of India* thinks about Hindus in general, I am the one who is misrepresenting. Wow! ( Perhaps you were left with no intelligent counter argument, so simply attack me and accuse me of misrepresenting)

Please try these tactics some where else, HN is certainly not the place.
