Re:Japan to stage Tokyo Olympics without overseas spectators on Wednesday March 10, 2021 @12:07PM (#26413492)
I think it is a wise solution, especially if we are trying to prevent Corona from spreading while also reducing the global damage form an eventual Akira incident.

Re:Name a tech startup in Online learning Contest $200 on Sunday July 13, 2014 @01:24PM (#8027988)
OnLearn
It's not really a Kickstarter campaign, it's on Prizeo.
I'd pick Solomo, because it resembles a real word, and is also the exact sequence you picked.
Re:Do children actually learn using educational apps? on Friday April 11, 2014 @08:13AM (#7572395)
I must admit, my children (girl 5yrs and boy 3yrs) learned a bit with apps. Two good examples are animal names and sounds (for ages <2, and games with rules or strategies for >2 (mplus point for games like memory, because the child can't cheat, and develops quite fast his/her own strategy for efficient problem-solving).
well, not me, that's for sure ;-)

Re:How can 6 people on Facebook like a post they didn't see? on Wednesday February 12, 2014 @04:13AM (#7223304)
I saw this before, and the explanation is quite simple: the picture change is itself a post (seen by X people), but Facebook adds up also the previous likes to the picture. So only 2 people saw the post about the profile picture change, and the likes are total to the picture.
Mailbox, WhatsApp, NBA Game Time, Feedly, Spotify
Re:How much interns are payed in your country? on Tuesday January 07, 2014 @11:23AM (#7018075)
Hi, I'm from Germany and here we have to kinds of Internships: Paid - internships in this category normally pay 400-500€ and are tax free Unpaid - mostly done to fulfill a requirement (study, course, etc.), is just like the name said unpaid.

There is then quite a jump (in earnings and requirements) for a trainee, and nothing really in-between.

Re:Does cold emailing work? on Monday December 16, 2013 @04:39AM (#6913711)
Good question. I had to cold email a lot of blogs and websites for a long-tail ad network, and I must admit, after some tweaking and spinning, I was able to get a response in some 10% of the emails sent (of course, the first filter you turn on is WHO to cold email). And the concept behind has to be: let's start a dialogue. But to give some perspective, my intention was to pay them for their inventory, and if you intention is to get their money, then I believe the response may be way, way lower.
