Re:Breaking Up with Google Play: Why Conversations Is Now Free on Sunday September 27, 2026 @04:22AM (#49864516)
Still using Google play links on the home page I see. F-droid primary I think not.

As much as I dislike duopolies and restriction of your own devices, if one wants to pay less tax to Google, one could charge less for the app, no?

At ~$10 per paragraph (or ~90 seconds) it's going to cost quite a lot to render the entire thing...
I don't have the ability to flag but how is this not flagged, when other way more relevant and less flamebait things are?

Re:All British adults to require a digital ID 'Brit Card' on Saturday September 27, 2025 @03:39AM (#45393874)
You will also want a photo that matches the face presented every time your gig worker looks at his phone to see the next order, etc or better yet fingerprint
Because your NI card has no photo?
Re:All British adults to require a digital ID 'Brit Card' on Saturday September 27, 2025 @03:17AM (#45393782)
Because they pinky promise? It'll be required to produce one like producing a driving license is required, but you don't need to have it with you. It'll be required because pubs/bars etc will require it. It'll not be required like giving a traffic stop breath sample is not required or like giving up your password is not required.

Imagine it was called IrishID or similar, help you to have empathy for how half of NI residents might feel about Brit-anything?

The lies are all well known and well documented by the likes of Naomi Klein ("This Changes Everything") - go have a read

It is great to see - all companies should comply with laws or get out of the country. Whatever the country, whatever the law, whatever the company.

Never understood why "internet media" companies decided it is fine to publish without moderating. Traditional media companies know they cannot do this.

You were no doubt using the wrong batteries. Lithium AA batteries come with the alarm and last about 5 years.
Re:Tokens are getting more expensive on Monday August 04, 2025 @03:54AM (#44783096)
Probably they asked AI if it was unlimited and it responded something like "oh wise and sagacious user what an amazingly insightful question! Yes, yes Max is unlimited! Would you like me to help you use an infinite amount of tokens?"

Perhaps I'm missing the joke but I feel sorry for the nice Dave Barry not this arrogant one who genuinely seems to believe he's the only one with the right to that particular name
Title should be: Anthropic caught getting high on their own supply

Are Americans unusual that they'll do anything for money? Weird for an artist to sell out and make advertising jingles?

Google trying new tactics to move Android from open-source to "source available, lol"?

Exciting stuff, my employer would be interested but it's AGPL3 licensed so it's a non-starter for them.
