Worst marketing ever. ngrok had a similar slogan:

something like - "We help you put localhost on the Internet."

What could possibly go wrong?

iphone 13 mini was the best phone ever made.
Mostly I wanted a nicer interactive bracket visualizer. I also wanted to be able to easily make a custom calendar for fixture I was interested in. Plus sharing the picks wo/ any serverside state. The whole bracket gets encoded in the URL fragment It's a full snapshot - no reconstruction.
What do you want to know?

Show HN: Group of Death – WorldCup bracket predictor with shareable URLs

https://groupofdeath.gg/

I couldn't find a nice worldcup bracket visualizer out there so ended up building one. It's nicer than the ones I saw out there. There is no login, no ads, runs client side, uses localStorage and all the state is encoded in the URL itself and you can share it.The calendar feature is nice. I wanted to build my own schedule for the games I was interested in. There is full calendar that you can...

Re:Google Cloud Spanner is now half the cost of Amazon DynamoDB on Wednesday October 11, 2023 @07:38PM (#37851781)
It's amazing how people complain about GCP. We run a massive deployment across 100+ regions cross-cloud GCP, Azure, AWS and oh boy. GCP has good support if you are big enough. Azure though which has a much bigger share than GCP is horrendous. Absolutely garbage all around. Good luck ever getting anyone in Engineering even if you are paying for support. AWS on the other hand - Amazing. We have Ent Support so those guys in our slack channel. The TAMs are amazing. Need to get hold of someone in Route53 no problem they are on the call this week. Feature request for EKS - ok talk to the Product Manager this afternoon.

Azure is a dumpster fire from the ground up.

Just watch the Spanish broadcast. It's 1000 times better even if you don't understand the language. No Taylor Twattman there.

Just use AL2023 aka Fedora LTS. 2 years of updates and 5 years of maintenance. That is exactly what everyone wants. Long term support and more frequent updates.
If we are to be mothered, mother must know best. . . . In every age the men who want us under their thumb, if they have any sense, will put forward the particular pretension which the hopes and fears of that age render most potent. They ‘cash in.’ It has been magic, it has been Christianity. Now it will certainly be science. . . . Let us not be deceived by phrases about ‘Man taking charge of his own destiny.’ All that can really happen is that some men will take charge of the destiny of others. . . . The more completely we are planned the more powerful they will be. . . . .

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. They may be more likely to go to Heaven yet at the same time likelier to make a Hell of earth. Their very kindness stings with intolerable insult. To be ‘cured’ against one’s will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on a level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals. —C. Learn to read. Second game against the Czechs.

> So if it was a shit league how come players in that league won the world cup 3 times in 12 years? All his goals are well attested to (do your research), I'm not sure what you mean by lack of proper record keeping.

Christ sake were you born stupid or did you have to work at it. Messi, Mbappe, Neymar play at PSG in Ligue 1. They could win a WC together. Does that make it a competitive league. Go look at the 1200+ goals. There is no official record and it includes non league friendlies against amateurs.

> They are all certified by FIFA. The most corrupt organization in the world. This is not even in dispute by the most ardent Pele fans that the count is questionable.

Go learn some history. Comparing Valdano to Jairzinho. I am embarrassed for you.

> Please be careful about expressing strong opinions about things you apparently know little about.

Yeah looks like you know next to nothing about what you speak.

> Pele may have been injured early, but his performance in their first games are still important. If they lost those games, they would have been kicked out of the tournament early.

Right. You are a joke. The one game he played was what won Brazil the WC that year. In 62 it was Garrincha who took Brazil to the promised land. Benezema has a winners medal too btw.

Yeah I stand by the shit league comment. They didn't even have proper record keeping so the 1200+ goals is a bad claim. He was surrounded by great players at the WC Jairzinho, Gérson, Tostão, Rivelino in 1970.

You are comparing that to Burucchaga and Voldano. Lol. I sincerely hope you bring more rigor to your day job.

> His more than 1000 goals are all attested to by FIFA.

Lol. Pelé included goals scored in friendlies or matches against semi-professional or even amateur teams. These facts are not even in dispute

Christ, you are not even wrong.

> carried Brazil for 3 world cup winnings

Complete and utter bullshit.

At 62 WC in Chile he scored and assisted against Mexico in the first game and then got hurt in the game against the Czechs and sat out the rest of the tournament. He did get a winner's medal so technically you are correct.

In 1970 he played with arguably the greatest team of all time.

He also played most his life for Santos in a shit farmer's league. His 1000 goal record is also suspect. He was surrounded by great players

> Without Pele football might not be popular as it's today.

That' laughable.

Maradona, Cryuff, Messi far superior for a number of reasons.

Maradon - went to Napoli and won. They never won anything before or since. Naples against Italy in 1990 was the only time the Argentinian anthem didn't get booed. And they were playing against the hosts. 86 he took a shit squad all the way. Single handedly.

Cryuff - WC, Barca, Total Football.

Messi - If it hadn't been for a certain Gonazalo Higuain or Placios he would be sitting w/ 2 winners medals. The consistency over almost 2 decades is unreal. Again took a shit Argentina squad all the way and beat one of the tournament favorites.

Precisely. There is big difference between undergrad and masters at Columbia. For CS MS was a cashcow - extract money from international students. It's actually a great deal for both parties.

Their pricing is bat shit crazy. Stay far, far away.

Yes, B&H is always the place to go for things like that. I just bought 15k worth of camera equipment for my dad and with the new store card it's an instant refund on taxes. The 30 day return policy is the cherry on top.
