Vincent Woo in 2020: "Lambda has claimed a 86% student placement rate for years. The real number is probably about 50%." [1]

From the announcement: "BloomTech and Allred lured prospective enrollees with inflated promises of job-placement rates as high as 86 percent, when the company’s internal metrics showed placement rates closer to 50 percent and in some cases as low as 30 percent."

Bravo Vincent!

This seems like a gimmick to me. If you want to code with your voice, checkout https://github.com/cursorless-dev/cursorless

Re:Amazon workers on Staten Island vote to unionize on Saturday April 02, 2022 @12:10AM (#30885792)
Some of the workers live hours away from the warehouse. The President of the Amazon Labor Union lived in New Jersey[1] when he was working there.

So there might be a lot of, or a least enough to make a difference, overlap in the hiring pool, depending how far they relocate.

I'd be surprised if this actually works.
Valorant's voice assistant is, at first glance, in the gray area of cheating.
YC backs another open source alternative to intercom with papercups: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=24133719

That was backed last year. Isn't there some conflict from the investor when the companies are so similar?

Is the application finished? The about page returns 404.
What about Read Less?

Would be cool to use this tool to read less of incoming email and then dig deeper if I think it's worth it.

I feel the same way.
You can track changes and see comments as to why each change was made, that's really cool.

Very cool. What information is automatically imported to your list when scanning a barcode? Is it just the name of the product?

For open source issues there's already a few solutions, one to look at is https://issuehunt.io/ (they use Stripe)

Most use Stripe. I guess it's just a case by case thing. I really don't know why they rejected me when they advertise that exact use case [1]. But the policy I was directed to says the opposite [2].

A crowdfunding site for product feature requests.

Stripe closed my account before I was able to launch as it was "unable to accept payments for crowdfunding"..... Their marketing doesn't match their policies.

That will change soon. :) Awesome project!

One of my favorite RTS games, Ruse, centered around the idea of ghost armies.

The updates for the desktop app happen automatically. I would like the option turn auto update off.

They tell you in the blog post.

"We continue to use Heroku as our main web platform. Despite its premium cost over AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, Heroku’s built-in deployment and configuration tools allow our team to move faster, more confidently, and more reliably.

As we’ve detailed previously, the alternatives would undoubtably be cheaper on paper. But in reality, the increased simplicity and freedom offered by Heroku for a small, product-focused team is a major cost savings advantage."

Re:Bitwarden – Open Source Password Manager on Tuesday July 10, 2018 @11:11PM (#17504191)
I love Bitwarden. I signed up when it first launched and happy to see it continue to add features. One of the only projects I pay to support the project rather than to get access to the additional premium features.

Thanks! Looking forward to hearing early feedback. I'm still in line.
Not sure I understand the misleading salary/job type part.

Flatirons full jobs report for 2017 is here: Online: https://cdn2.hubspot.net/hubfs/69751/2017%20Online%20Outcome...

Onsite: https://cdn2.hubspot.net/hubfs/69751/NYCJobsReport%20July%20...

Looks like these reports were made before the fine. Inside these reports, salary and job type are broken down and clearly stated.

Were these reports altered after the fact?
