Re:Analyzing Spotify Stream History on Tuesday February 13, 2024 @06:27AM (#39356708)
This made me remember how much I used to love exploring my last.fm data with stream graphs from https://lastgraph.aeracode.org/ (before it died)

I'll have to have a go at making something similar with my Spotify data. Thanks for the inspiration.

I remember really wanting this at the time. Amazing how jarring the design of the radio is in comparison to the rest of the interior. Also, interesting how they didn't think to design their own entertainment system because... cars had third party entertainment systems that's just the way it was!
I really hope this includes being able to use AES encryption.
I spent the best part of a sunny Saturday trying to work out why an elderly relative’s HP printer wasn’t working.

The error messages were incredibly unhelpful (I like to believe they were too ashamed to tell you what was actually wrong).

Turns out their credit card was due to expire soon. Was shocked when I found that was the issue & had a hard time explaining what had gone wrong. I’ll definitely advise against HP printers going forward.

There was a driverless series in development https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roborace

Unfortunatly it looks like it might have floundered

As of Dec 2020 only 2.3% of active accounts had any form of 2FA enabled [1]

Nice idea. On a releated note I've found Firefox's reader view absolutely excellent for this too.

Ask HN: Who would you recommend following on Mastodon?

I've had a Mastodon account for a few years but it feels like the time to dust it off and reassess. In the past I followed a lot of bots that cross posted info from other sources as the original sources or people weren’t on the platform. This always felt a little unsatisfying as you can't interact with a bot and they're often a little too noisy - posting hundreds of articles a day. (although...

TL;DW: We percieve things logarithmically. Thought it was an interesting idea.

There's a nice video compairing vertical and horisontal axis wind turbines here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EM-gCvhQhPU
Any grid energy storage technology. Whether it's small home units (smart batteries, vehicle to grid, hydrogen packs...) or huge grid scale (liquid air, gravity, liquid metal batteries...)
This is starting to happen: https://octopus.energy/agile/ I imaging more suppliers will start offering this soon.

(I'm not in anyway associated with Octopus btw, just interested in this sort of thing)

Really sad news.

For me Four Tet's remixs of Great day and Money folder were as close to perfect as I've heard.

There's a short (mostly unsuccessful) history of Micronations [1] The most recent I remember being Liberland [2]

I was under the impression there was an exclusive agreement in place with AstraZeneca but the general terms for access to Oxford's IP was:
