Is Context Switching something important for you as well, or was it just curiosity?

Pre-PMF Looking for feedback or advice

Hy What advices you have for a product pre-PMF ? All I know pre- PMF is that you have to run experiments. We are iterating our product based on the few requests we had so far.I've launched at the beginning of the month on PH. We got about 200 new users. No upwards trend. [Product] Ikuna - Create a personalised, 3-sec launchable workspace for every project. All your tabs and apps coming...

I would love to see autonomy as a solution but I've seen friends dig themselves deeper and deeper because of said freedom to do as much as they want.

According to Border theory and self-regulation theory people are: Border Enforcers(Have strict boundaries between live and work), Border Adapters(Can adapt if a border is crossed ex an emergency), or Border Expanders (It's hard for them to delimit where one border ends and another starts)

I see how Maximising autonomy could work for Border enforcers but it can cause real damage to Border Expanders.

How do you prevent employee burnouts? Manage wellbeing without privacy intrusion

Generally looking for best practices that you recommend in taking care of your employees.I'm asking because the regular "ask them and they'll tell" usually falls flat until things are bad..and then it's more of a healing process of something that could have been prevented. Also, speaking from personal experience, we sometimes don't realise how bad things are before they start burning us ..What...

Re:Ask HN: What's your favourite way to relax? on Saturday September 18, 2021 @04:58PM (#28579242)
Man it really is relaxing to do something with your hands instead of sitting at the computer.

The reward you get from being able to touch what you are working on is really nice.

Cooking can be relaxing as well - unless you have kids crying that they are hungry - then it becomes quite stressful.

Do you have any specific wood working projects?

Tranquility.

Never tried it. Very interesting.

Flow is quite addicting.

I'm a new parent as well - it really made me understand and relate to my parents better.

Calling them every week at least once to see the nephew (we live in a different country ) - but I'll try to do the 1 minute a day I commented earlier.

It sounds like you don't have this chance anymore. . sorry for your loss.

Just heard this and really liked: "1 minute a day is worth more than 1-2hours on a Saturday"

Meaning giving 1 minute a day to your parents / love ones to let them know you are good - healthy - that you love and appreciate them..daily is worth more than trying to compensate on a Saturday.

Morning routine or when do you make time for it?
Re:Ask HN: What's your favourite way to relax? on Saturday September 18, 2021 @04:01PM (#28578828)
As a student I used to dislike riding on the train every other weekend to go home. wished there would be a faster way to travel.

I now miss watching out the window.

Re:How do you position all your apps when you start working? on Friday September 17, 2021 @03:05PM (#28569638)
Not as of right now due to each browser being different

It's not very hard to implement but we've been waiting to see if there are people wanting this ++.

Maybe there is a need for instructions so here they are.

---

Download the zip

Unarchive it

Move it to apps.

Right-click on it -> Open. Do this twice (It will say that it is not trusted as the app was not downloaded from the store)

// To be able to position the apps you will need to give it accessibility rights. Go to Settings Security and Settings > Accessibility ->Search for Ikuna and click open.

> App Unlocked.

*Ps. It has a shortcut option in the settings.*Personal recommendation CMD + § (the symbol above tab) for ease of use.

Save and load your Workspace – Free | MacOS only

Helo Here's an app that we developed to easily save and load your workspace. App is still in beta. - might have bugs. Would love some feedback and help. Why we did it: Working from home is quite difficult. You have to open every morning the same apps. You have to resize them. Then at the end of the day, you close them. You have to open your fun space. Why not switch between the space layouts...

Re:Ask HN: How do you measure if you are productive or not? on Monday September 06, 2021 @04:58AM (#28431766)
I guess you can do that now with Spotify playlists as well :D.

I get your point - people measure/bill things differently. How do you measure/bill things?

Re:Ask HN: How do you measure if you are productive or not? on Monday September 06, 2021 @04:57AM (#28431761)
Thanks for commenting.

That's exactly why I'm asking. --- most dashboards seem to show a part of the story but that's often incomplete. Ex. Time spent Thinking is 100% productive but if you measure APM -It isn't labeled as such.

Delivering reliably is important for managers - but how do you do that if the task constantly change.. I'm assuming you you estimate and as long as you're on target more or less - it's ok with your manager? -- Could you expand on the sharing with others part? - what you want to share ?

Ask HN: How do you measure if you are productive or not?

These are a couple that came to mind. Do share your own measurements.1. Tasks being done ( Checklists basically ) 2. Activity level ( How engaged you were - what was the APM etc ) 3. Amount of Breaks ( How many breaks you took, how often etc) 4. Time Tracking ( Amount of time spent doing something. Deadlines ) 5. Retrospectives ( Once you finish a task you take some time to analyze and rate...
