Re:An Existential Problem in the Search for Alien Life on Thursday December 07, 2023 @09:44AM (#38556888)
Any form of life outside of earth would be in danger if humans were to find it, no matter how technologically superior.

Plot twist: Maybe the Ai is turning them all against each other.

This is exactly what Elon Musk had told CNBC that would happen to Open Ai once in control of Microsoft.
Re:Starship will attempt a launch this weekend on Tuesday November 14, 2023 @10:01AM (#38264047)
While this would be great to start space exploration, there is no military incentive for this, and they're always the only ones with a blank check. Not sure that tourism is the option, maybe mining.
Sam Altman is right. Ai will break capitalism. Trust is the foundation of human storytelling.
A significant % of the workforce can work from home or "office hubs", instead of moving ppl from A to B. Technologies like Vision Pro are a better solution.
what's the point of a self driving car? There's too much money going to things that aren't needed.
Re:GPT-4 Vision Prompt Injection on Wednesday October 18, 2023 @12:39PM (#37931186)
Amazing work. If there's ever a government institution or consulting firm looking into the safety of these Ai products. I hope your input is requested. A for profit corporation wont get to self regulate as that is not their main objective. As for vulnerabilities and consequences in human behavior all they would do/can do is respond. In this context it seems to me you have vision which not everyone has.
Re:GPT-4 Vision Prompt Injection on Wednesday October 18, 2023 @10:58AM (#37929641)
Can you please elaborate on this?
How can people still consider having children? The self sustained greed machinery will destroy the planet with absolute certainty and there is absolutely nothing that anyone can do about it. Evolution will solve the problem for nature, but for humans as we know them, we are done. Expecting the oil, gas and mining industry to change is absurd. The only ones that could do something meaningful are tech ultra rich and look at Elon Musk.
Don't worry, chatGPT will do the same think in 1000 lines

ChatGPT vs. Animals

It's crazy. The information in the collective human mind sees no problem killing and being cruel to so many forms of life, yet sees a piece of extraordinary hardware that has created and asks: "this may at some point become sentient."

Old thinking stock 100 years ago, old corporate/government structures can't get the internet. Their solutions always concern building physical things. They will never get it. A black swan event in the horizon will bring about a new structure that uses the physical world only for what is essential: health, water, food & shelter. Getting people from A to B and back is a solution from the 1900s industrial revolution that brought about cities.
Re:The Tragic Downfall of National Geographic on Friday June 30, 2023 @11:24AM (#36536607)
what we need is a really good app for this magazine. As an early adapter I am passed the era of social media and really hoping/looking for an alternative. Infinite scrolling that is not stupid and/or negative.
Re:Nanoplastic Ingestion Causes Neurological Deficits on Thursday June 08, 2023 @11:38AM (#36243707)
Coca Cola is to plastic what oil is to Exxon, and what food is to Monsanto. The CEO of coca cola and his team of scientist in 1978 are responsible for this. Extremely intelligent but extremely unconscious.
That nothing supernatural steps in to prevent this, exposes clearly that the only one that can build a better world is "I" and only "I". No rewards, no afterlife prizes, no recognition, only a clear sense of responsibility for the whole, because if "I" don't do it then who? It is incomprehensible lack of consciousness that continues to this day to create this psychopathic madness in what could otherwise be a planet paradise.
No dopamine hit with twitter anymore.

All the ones that I've tried.
Re:Existential risk from artificial general intelligence on Tuesday April 04, 2023 @08:04PM (#35447473)
No one seems to be considering a black swan event in the AI future scenarios.
It would finally expose the whales and show clearly the correlation between news and stock moves. The whales own the news outlets, news which placed intentionally at the right time will incite fear for them to buy low or generate excitement to sell high. Looking at you Elon Dodgecoin
I see a crack, in the economic pyramid that has sustained socio-economic inequality for so many centuries.
I thought they had their own Siri version of ChatGPT to be released soon but looks like he didn't plan for this to happen this fast and under increasing interest rates.

Looks like language models will become the gurus of tomorrow. Some people will not trust them, but some will die for them. Their effects in politics and the world order will be scary. Cambridge Analytica.
Re:What We Look for in a Resume on Wednesday January 25, 2023 @12:08PM (#34520953)
Absolute bs. It's all about connections, the whole resume thing is bs. People in high positions are there because someone got them in. You need to be top 5% smart to make it there, and with SO MUCH effort and sacrifice to to achieve the same. Capitalism rewards entrepreneurship.
