At my place of employment there was discussion of banning everything except for edge on company pcs. Their propaganda must be getting good around services only working on their browser platform.
Unless the Earth was a __VERY__ different place
This also solves the rising oil and gas prices issue as well!
Is there a "crypto-shred" method for destroying access to your account? Like, change your email to one that expires/isn't reusable, then change the password to some totally random, lengthy string and then never record it?
This gave me a shot of panic when I read the headline - thanks for correcting the record.
As a casual Xcancel user, this is actually the first I'm hearing of this. Wow, what a bummer
Not only that but it appears as if they're also treating the platform that customers actively use in such a way as well - heavily A/B testing features and behavior of the platform with little regard for customer comfort in terms of platform use, moving targets for subscription limits, etc etc. I suppose most of us chalk it up to the technology being new and evolving, but I'm not so sure everyone shares that same sentiment clearly.
does "Superpowers" exist outside of the Claude ecosystem? I feel like I've become hooked on this workflow - honestly I could take or leave the models ... it's the workflows and the way that they essentially create tightly focused loops over multiple sessions that I've becoming fairly dependent on.
we're all a little crazy ... it's all relative!
well, I wouldn't go that far .. but in this small, narrow case ... no.
> Either directly or worse.
Wow, some "the killer is calling from inside the house" vibes right there. But I totally agree that the game of telephone has always been _an_ issue - maybe not _the_ issue but certainly a big one.
I could see this making sense when model development start to settle down ... it's going to settle down, right? ...
Yes - it's a specific workload for sure. SQLite is still the GOAT when it comes to OLTP, but DuckDB is really becoming the GOAT in the OLAP world - I think DuckDB is simply amazing and truly an amazing piece of technology for anyone working with large amounts of data.
Yeah, it's not so much about money, or any sort of monetary "payoff" - it's about the features that are not available that you now have the ability to extend. Believe it or not, not everything is about money!
It's interesting that you're looking to exit the industry as a SR dev - from my casual observations it seems like mostly it's the JR devs and younger folks that have been mostly rejecting agentic dev.
Just out of curiosity, do you have a specific objections to using the technology? I totally understand the burnout however (I'm rapidly approaching 50 myself).
Where it pays off is not when you reach parity with the built product compared to the vendored product - it's when you can continue to extend or customize the capabilities when the original vendor can not or will not support the features you can now build
So, in summary: still the honors system. Got it. thanks.
And the price is steep but in my opinion, you really do get a lot of value here - especially with the fact that you instantly pull a ton of your library in seamlessly. If you've been in this ecosystem for a while that's a huge selling-point - or, at least it was for me!
I had to shake my head for a moment as I was instantly transported back to 1998 with that comment lol
It would have justified the price had they included this in the base model - this is the next best thing I suppose. Valve is really coming out as the good guy here in the video game industry and we should really support and applaud all that they're doing to hold the line for consumers and fans.
So, the argument is, "the markets forced us to collude and price fix!"?
Sounds like "blame the victim" mentality to be honest.
Has anyone found an executive, or director at any sizable organization who is expressly anit-ai? It would be interested to see what patterns emerged from that group of folks.
it's easy ... they'll just change the definition of "carbon negative"!
I had an Amazon agent tell me that I should go and take my misdelivered packages off my neighbor's porch. I told it that that may look bad and I didn't want to get shot or have the police called on me.
The AI agent and I went back and forth for like 5 minutes before I got a person (I think!). When the human agent got on the chat I pretended that I had traumatic brain injury from slipping and falling trying to retrieve my misdelivered items.
This has of course been featured on HN a fair amount , but it's always nice to be reminded of a good thing (especially since I just discovered it thanks to a brainstorm)!
