Does this mean that ffmpeg now can record a Jitsi video meeting audio stream?

Show HN: QuickSus – a free tool to run System Usability Scale surveys

https://www.quicksus.com/

Knowing of a product works for end users or not needs proper usability testing. But sometimes you want to do a quick, minimal check what user's think about your product.Over the holidays I rewrote a service I had a couple of years ago that let's you run System Usability Scale (SUS) surveys quickly (SUS is an established 10-item questionnaire that results in a indicator score that shows if your...

That sounds great. Outline only has SSO in the per-user paid version. If you decide on providing additional functionality in a non-free "enterprise" version, please don't use the per usermonth model for people running it on prem.

It is a great piece of software but annoying that you can't edit text.

This was a great blog post highlighting some of the weird business models that plague cloud computing. I tried to find competitors to suppliers like Oxide in the EU where there should be a huge amount of business cases for "datacenter in a box". Surprisingly there are very few options available (yes, Azure Stack is available but there is still licensing per cpu for that).

Why aren't there more players in this area?

I hear the company owner is a russian citizen. Maybe that is a problem.

Re:Show HN: Port of OpenAI's Whisper model in C/C++ on Thursday December 08, 2022 @12:47AM (#33904645)
Great work! I use it experimentally in a free service for people who want to subtitle videos. The small model runs o a USD8/mo VPS. Looking into running the medium model soon.
It involves sub licensing the entire suite to a EU entity. It is happening in France with Bleu (MS365 run by Capgemini and Orange): https://www.datacenterdynamics.com/en/news/orange-and-capgem...
It would be interesting to know how many of government agencies use Google email services? Is the email interaction between citizen and state now predominantly in the hands of a foreign third party?
Re:Non-Code Contributions to Open Source (2021) on Monday September 26, 2022 @08:51AM (#32982466)
This! Many seem to think that only developers can contribute in a way that gains experience and CV-items. UX people, designers and wordsmiths can have a great impact on a project too. I wish more people found out and contributed.
A very good question!
Maybe a button cluster for cars could be standardized? Everything relating to AC, heat, etc could work with similar symbols and placement. Everything else had to go below or above this module?

Re:Bad UI is causing people to get scammed on Saturday July 09, 2022 @01:53AM (#32032216)
A large email provider like Gmail could probably train a network to find emails that look similar to an official brand (start with payment providers). The client could warn the user that "Warning! This email looks a lot like it is trying to impersonate a different brand".
This was a nice intro to the Blender Python API. Thank you!

Exactly. This post was like a blast from the past about things that have been working fine for ages. Curious if young developers read this and thought it was a modern invention.

What would the web look like if this (or similar) was the default stylesheet in all browsers?
One of the benefits of Counfluence is that it is one of the only Wikis where I've seen non-technical people being able to create content on a daily basis. Linking pages, inserting graphs and images just works. I have yet to see that in anything based on markdown.

Re:Alexa suggests lethal challenge to child on Tuesday December 28, 2021 @09:20AM (#29714011)
This made me happy. The state of language models paired with the overoptimistic ideas about AI a lot of people have sets the scene for a number of train wrecks. I hope more people critically evaluate their models before releasing them in mass scale.

It would be interesting to know how many of these SaaS services run on US cloud platforms. And what that means in relation to Schrems 2.
