Re:Puerto Rico's Solar Microgrids Beat Blackout on Thursday June 26, 2025 @05:07AM (#44385557)
That is the case only if you want to give your surplus back to the grid. If you avoid that, you are only limited to a maximum power of 20kW of solar panels installed.
This italian company https://www.trienergia.com/ [Trienergia] produces (in Italy!) triangular panels.
Re:The coronavirus pandemic has changed our sleep on Wednesday July 15, 2020 @03:04PM (#23850081)
I don't know why, at least consciously, but I've started to sleep less with the lockdown (italian here): from ~8hrs to ~6hrs, more or less, waking up fresh&ready. I've also been more energic: I started running and started being more consistent with the weight training, sometimes both in the same day. Also lost 6Kg in the last 4 months!

But work has been the same: no increase or loss in productivity. Lockdown forced WFH, but I used to WFH for years. The only difference is that in the last 10 months I've been going to the office daily because of a new job, enjoyed the atmosphere and the colleagues. And because it was only an 8 minutes commute.

Re:Twilio SMS price halved to a penny per message on Friday June 10, 2011 @02:17PM (#2641877)
I never read about it here on hn but I used Cardboardfish.com in a couple of projects. The API is similar to the Clickatell's (they are all pretty the same) but I found most of routes to be cheaper.

I'm no a meta-fanboy, believe me. But a real fanboy would have written that comment too.

What about an Acer Aspire Revo 1600 to use like a server and also as a mediacenter connected to the bigscreen tv? 16-20W idle.

For those who do not know: OVH is a cheap French provider, and Kimsufi is the brand for their economic server&service line. This morning I received the newsletter (I use them for a couple of project) showing this new cloud service called miniCloud: the price starts from 0.01€/hr.Another news is the lowered price for the lowest server: Celeron D/215/220 now at 14.99€/mo from 19.99€/mo. Re:Ask HN: What do you listen to when you code? on Monday March 22, 2010 @09:10AM (#1210203)
I go with SomaFM.com's Groove Salad, as most of the music is without words, so no distraction.
Re:Ask HN: Cloning a US startup for a european country ? on Wednesday February 17, 2010 @06:27AM (#1131318)
I often think about that many times. But I believe the best solution is to get in touch for a collaboration.
