That was just astonishing. If someone is looking for a definition of hacking, that's it.
Nicely done sir. I have a similar project called Q2, still unpublished. I would be happy to talk to you about our projects and share ideas. Congratulations, you beat me to the punch!
Re:IBM is still making ThinkPad keyboards on Monday October 05, 2015 @01:50PM (#10333485)
I have had the very same keyboard shown in the article for more than ten years and it still works perfectly, although I was a bit disappointed at the time because it didn't feel quite the ones in the laptops. Lately though, I went all nostalgic and undusted an old IBM 1391405, that clicks like a charm while I am typing this.

That is fantastic, thank you very much

Midiclorians... finally!
Re:ArangoDB on Mesosphere Using Marathon and Docker on Monday January 26, 2015 @08:39AM (#8946910)
Clear evidence that I am getting old and being left behind: of the four technologies named in that title I only have heard of one and have never actually used it.
Re:Were 11 Spanish Anarchists Arrested for Using Secure Email? on Saturday January 10, 2015 @03:13PM (#8867765)
No, they were arrested accused of blowing up small bombs in ATMs. Extracted from the ruling (http://www.elperiodico.com/es/noticias/sociedad/prision-para...)

"From the investigation of the coordinated anarchyst groups, it is derived that their members might be the alleged authors of several attacks with home made explosive artifacts in all the national territory"

Whether they are guilty of those charges or not, is of course a completely different matter.

Thanks! It's still down
Re:Ten Rules for Web Startups (2005) on Tuesday December 02, 2014 @06:48AM (#8686660)
Well, 100 is a lot of work, but I think some of the YC top startups fit quite well: let's say Dropbox, Disqus or Stripe.
Re:Ten Rules for Web Startups (2005) on Tuesday December 02, 2014 @06:45AM (#8686657)
You took your words right of my mouth, well my keyboard. It is surprisingly true almost nine years later, it is probably more true now than it was then, or at least it has been proven to be more true, if that is even possible.
Feel free to contact me if you want to move his CV in a couple of companies that I know are hiring (Salamanca and Valencia).

Good luck to you and your father

I agree, I don't think there is crisis in IT in Spain as a whole, but our recent banking industry restructuration is dumping into the market a good amount of middle-age experienced developers and analysts.
Re:Bootstra.386 – A Bootstrap theme from the 1980s on Thursday July 03, 2014 @01:57PM (#7984611)
Very nice, it's so convincing my first reaction was to use the left-right cursor keys to change the selected menu option! (that would be a cool enhance by the way).

kudos!

I loved this series too. I even remember reading this very article back in the day when I was learning about game development. Sometimes when I go to my old room at my parent's house and I see the game boxes in the shelf, I am tempted to install at least one of them and try to get back that feeling you talk about. I never have done it because I know deep down it will never be the same
Re:Drawing as a programmer on Monday February 17, 2014 @08:17AM (#7251917)
Fantastic article. As an ex-avid comic book reader and programmer, it certainly turns on some old hopes to draw better.
Re:How startups should die on Wednesday September 25, 2013 @12:10AM (#6442574)
I agree, it reminds me about a quote I heared sometime ago (I can't remember where) about corporate (mis)management and its paper trail, and it was something like "Before you send an email, imagine it printed in the front page of the New York Times".
Re:Mozilla Labs: TogetherJS on Friday September 20, 2013 @01:46PM (#6419295)
Sorry about that :( we'll look into it
Re:Mozilla Labs: TogetherJS on Friday September 20, 2013 @02:08AM (#6416191)
Another great project from Mozilla, congratulations. I'll definitely give it a try.

Sorry to blow my own horn, but a few months ago we launched a similar project called Quolony https://quolony.com (we are a small startup from Salamanca, Spain). Right now we are working as a free service and we plan to publish it as open-source in the next few months. People can use it individually using a browser extension or in whole sites including our library. We have avatars, synchronized text selection, private and public chats, persistence, cobrowsing, file transfers and a lot more.

Some samples: https://quolony.com/demos/photomess/ (drag and drop) https://quolony.com/demos/quolony/developers/ (shared demo)

At the low level, we extend the browser event model to make it easier to use it in existing applications.

I hope you guys can give it a try and tell me what you think.

Kudos mozilla!

Re:Is democracy overrated? on Sunday August 11, 2013 @05:10AM (#6194423)
I think the real problem is we don't really have democracy: once every four years we are allowed to pick between Coke or Pepsi and then we hand over all our power to a bunch of people until the next election.
