Re:Frontier Airlines Likely Breached on Sunday November 01, 2026 @12:43PM (#50327808)
Every interaction I've ever had with Frontier Airlines has been negative.
Re:New MacBook Pro with M6 on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @10:55AM (#50260341)
I'd wait. Prices have already gone up, and I suspect they'll stay high, but not increase too much more than they already have. Apple is skipping M6 Pro/Max/Ultra to focus on M7, which allegedly is a big step forward for local AI.

The common wisdom (for good reason) is buy when you need to, wait if you can. But if you are able to wait that seems like the smart play right now.

Re:Typesafe AI raises $870M at $7.5B on Saturday October 10, 2026 @07:42PM (#50038259)
I have been running evals versus other models on my own data. For my use case, Jev comes out on top at least 2/3 of the time. This is purely about accuracy. For cost and speed, it is on top 100% of the time. I agree that people should test their own data against it before blindly assuming that it will get better outcomes.

The API was duplicated, the results were not.
Re:What OS should I pick? on Thursday September 24, 2026 @10:15PM (#49839468)
In the age of LLMs, linux's obtuse and arcane CLIs and configuration files are magically a strength instead of a weakness.

Pick a reasonable desktop distro, throw it on a spare drive to test it out, and go nuts.

Thanks, I hate it.
Re:Google Maps Faces Fury for Caving to Trump on Sunday August 30, 2026 @11:43AM (#49499704)
A similar story that came out around the time of the “Gulf of America“ debacle basically just said that the database they use for naming bodies of water had been updated, and therefore that carried through to Maps.

So it wasn’t really a decision one way or the other, it was a continuation of an existing policy of where names come from.

I love the (well-disclosed) fake testimonials. Hilarious!
Re:Omarchy – Linux that is capitalizing on AI momentum on Wednesday August 26, 2026 @05:25PM (#49456177)
I think you are right, and maybe it just appeals to a different kind of user. I appreciate the way it's set up out of the box, and make pretty minimal changes that chezmoi and the /omarchy skill help me maintain easily across updates. I like that it's well-configured without me having to configure it, but I know that's not what a lot of linux users are looking for.
Re:Omarchy – Linux that is capitalizing on AI momentum on Wednesday August 26, 2026 @04:52PM (#49455741)
I really like Omarchy. I don't agree with all of DHH's (apparent) opinions, but I don't agree with all of TIm Cook's opinions, Steve Jobs' opinions, Linus Torvalds' opinions, or Bill Gates' opinions either.

It's a real pleasure to use.

Re:Monitors for Work on Saturday August 08, 2026 @03:52PM (#49225260)
They pair really nicely with a column-oriented WM like Niri or PaperWM!
Re:Open Knowledge format v0.2 tackles agentic trust on Sunday July 26, 2026 @01:38PM (#49060378)
I really appreciate this project. Who knows if it will become a viable standard, but I like that there's at least an effort to work on something open and interoperable with a bit more structure than just plain text. The small amount of structure and ceremony adds boatloads of utility.
Re:Blender 5.2 LTS on Tuesday July 14, 2026 @02:38PM (#48911240)
I don't use Blender, so my admiration is from a distance but: Wow - what an impressive project. At least if I understand it correctly, this is a real pro-level piece of free and open software that's equivalent to thousands and thousands of dollars in closed-source commercial software.
What Apple laptop has “jet-engine fan noise”?
Re:Don't discontinue Gemini 2.5 Flash on Friday July 10, 2026 @05:45PM (#48865726)
Is it really? A 9B model is equivalent? Honest question, as I haven't spent that much time with the 9B variant or Flash 2.5. But that seems like a pretty bold claim for such a small model. I assumed Flash 2.5 was considerably larger, but maybe I'm wrong?
Same, but the front is important for airflow in the Framework Desktop, so I don't think covering it with an e-ink screen would work. But maybe with some space between the screen and the fan intake?
Every time I see the word “admits” in a headline, I skip the article.
Re:Writing Postcards with a 3D Printer on Monday June 22, 2026 @08:17AM (#48629136)
If this appeals to you, also check out the Plotter Art subreddit https://www.reddit.com/r/PlotterArt/
In my opinion - not yet. The local models are getting better all the time, but still aren't quite reliable enough. Also, hardware prices are absurd right now. Once the hardware market settles down and there's a little more progress on local models, maybe in a year or two, I expect things will be a bit different.

I'm running a Strix Halo with 128GB of RAM. It's fun to play with, but the real frontier models are just way better.

Re:Starship V3 on Tuesday May 12, 2026 @11:18PM (#48117379)
I was disappointed when this was not the command line prompt library
Re:Zed Editor Theme-Builder on Saturday May 09, 2026 @02:54PM (#48077274)
If you use Omarchy, the 3.8 update includes dynamic theming for Zed. It's very cool: https://github.com/APS6/omazed
Are you using that cmarker commonmark Typst package? Is it good?

https://typst.app/universe/package/cmarker/

I would think you could use this model inside of Presidio, right?
No, they don't, but I'd still take OmniWM over not having it.
If that’s all it took to deter you that thoroughly, I think you can confidently say that you are outside of the target market. Which is 100% OK!
If you are on a Mac, check out OmniWM, which has a Niri layout, in addition to one that's more like Hyprland. It has made my work on MacOS much more pleasant.

https://github.com/BarutSRB/OmniWM

I posted about it a bit ago when I just started using it, and it's been really great. Highly recommended.

Are they zom-bees?
Re:Native Instant Space Switching on macOS on Thursday April 09, 2026 @04:16PM (#47709230)
Having been ruined by Linux options like Hyperland and Niri, I’m digging my early foray into OmniWM - https://github.com/BarutSRB/OmniWM
