Garry Tan posted some data recently on performance investing in demo day:
https://x.com/garrytan/status/1927946812364574912These returns outperform the S&P. Maybe these aren’t typical, but it’s pretty far from “you could flip a coin and beat YC”
Forcing a reload is a regression compared to the "standard" method proposed at the start of the article. If you have a REST API that requests attributes about a model, and the client is responsible for the presentation of that model, then it is much easier to support outdated clients (perhaps outdated by weeks or months, in the case of mobile apps) without interruption, because their pre-existing logic continues to work

Banks will almost certainly not let you do this
How does that lead to the 10x increase in profits (not revenue) cited by OP?
This isn’t only true for “rich” companies.
Companies (particularly young ones) succeed or fail if they are innovating on their products and delivering value to customers. Reducing cloud spend is not doing that.
It may very well improve the bottom line, but when the company is (correctly) more focused on “how do we increase our customers by X% this year”, pursuing those savings is a distraction.
Nobody is being released from prison. The White House said that there’s currently nobody in federal prison for “simple possession”, which is what is being pardoned
But this isn't a big change? This is a bill with bipartisan support in congress, and it's my understanding that it has majority (but not 60%) support.
If this is difficult, then everything is difficult. How can a governing body being impeded on its most fundamental duties be considered a feature?
The serendipitous knowledge of the question isn’t the cheating. The cheating is the deception in the interview that this is a question being encountered for the first time.
It’s cheating because it’s the type of unethical behavior you wouldn’t want in a colleague: pretending that they are brilliantly generating insights on the spot that they have actually researched previously.
I don’t think it’s an unforgivable sin, particularly for someone new to interviewing. But as a candidate, I’ve considered it appropriate to make it clear to my interviewer what my level of experience with the question was before diving in. And as an interviewer, I’ve always looked positively on candidates who have done the same
The board can issue new shares (equivalently, diluting existing shares) if it thinks it is in the interest of the shareholders. That’s clearly what they think of the poison pill, but it’s harder to argue that for the hypothetical you are describing
The post doesn't appear to be talking about the new Coronavirus relief bill, but rather the existing SBA Disaster Loans:
https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela/The two are similar but are different in a few ways. Such as:
- The SBA Disaster Loans require a personal guarantee, but it appears that the Coronavirus relief does not
- The Coronavirus relief offers forgiveness for payroll expenses, but the SBA Disaster Loans do not
This is moving fast and as others have mentioned, the Coronavirus relief bill is brand new. You should talk to an accountant or a lawyer to learn which is right for you.
It's also much easier to get visa sponsorship for a foreign worker who has a PhD than one who does not. Someone with a PhD has a stronger chance of being eligible for an O-1, whereas someone without likely has to go through the H1-B lottery
H1-B workers are (by the nature of their visa) prohibited from creating companies
Founding a company is not the only way to create jobs
It is typical to label the fiscal year by the date of the end of the period. This distinction doesn't matter when your fiscal year is Jan - Dec, but comes up in this case
If your fiscal year goes from Feb 1 2017 - Jan 21 2018, then that is commonly referred to as FY 2018
Something that dramatic looks to me like a logging/data error

YC companies aren't "done" after 3 months. They keep building and growing for years to come. The 3 months is just how long it takes from first dinner to demo day. Companies of all types are typically able to show some kind of growth, traction, or progress in that time.
I assume that you will pay the same way an advertiser would pay - by bidding for the space. If your bid exceeds the bids of anyone else trying to advertise there, nothing will be shown. Otherwise you'll be shown an ad as normal.
Another founder here! If you have any questions about our engineering stack, I'm happy to answer.
Oops! Thanks for the heads up. We'll make sure that gets fixed.

If the abuse is translating spam, then that's even more surprising - because that's exactly the kind of abuse that Gmail already prevents all the time. It even seems like a great opportunity for Google to gather spam data in all sorts of languages.
