Same here, very exciting. Last year, Tirhal was the first Sudanese startup to receive funding from abroad and now this. Hope the momentum continues.
I'm in the same position right now. Instead of getting a job where you won't learn anything, try and get a job or an internship at a startup. I've worked at a local startup for the past year and it's been an amazing experience. I learned a lot and met a lot of interesting people.

Anecdotally, my experiences confirm this. My brother, who before, had never even tried to program, is currently a CS major. Most of his friends are too. They don't care about startups or startup jobs, they want secure jobs at big companies.

Thanks for sharing Patrick. I never would have guessed that you had a stutter from your MicroConf talks.
I'm glad this topic is being discussed.
Even though I am relatively young (I turn 18 next week), can code and sell, I've always had a fear that my speech would prevent me from being a "real entrepreneur" (whatever that means), so it's good to see examples of people not letting their speech problems hinder their success.
Wow, thanks for writing this. This hit really close to home. As a 17 year old web developer and entrepreneur, one of my greatest fears is that my stutter will make it impossible to raise funding or do sales.
I have a stutter and I've tried marijuana a few times. It might help a bit, but it can also make it worse.

I think this is something a lot of entrepreneurs can benefit from joining, especially in the early stages.
This is great, thanks for sharing.
Wow, I can't imagine how much it must suck to have your event funds withheld when you need to pay for venues, travel, equipment etc.
This is one of the reasons why we don't let people use their own payment gateways.
Thanks for the tip.

Getting speakers, finding cheaper venues, engaging attendees, etc.Compiling a list for the startup I work for, BusyConf.
Of course, but the story focuses on a group of women whose project was hindered by U.S sanctions.
Find me an example of an IED roadside bomb being used in Sudan.
It's not irrelevant. Female programmers were hindered and the story focuses on those female programmers. The goal is not to be controversial but to raise awareness.
The sanctions are in place because the Sudanese government has numerous human rights violations and supported terrorist elements in the 90s, including Osama Bin Laden.
The issue is that the sanctions hurt regular people way more than the government.
The government is a dictatorship that has been in power since 1989, there are protests against the government almost every year, usually ending in a few deaths.
I'm not sure if fraud has anything to do with it, but I can see that it may be an issue.
I put female in the title because I thought it would get more attention due to the recent "controversies" on gender and programming.
It's a cause I care about so I'm willing to be link-baity to get more attention.
But I definitely agree with you.
Thanks, I definitely plan on using HookFeed if I use Stripe for HelloPosts.
Thanks for the honesty. I'm currently working on a product too. Getting a lot of interest and I know I'm solving a problem.
Looking forward to reading your book too.
There's a link on the bottom to submit your own startup. Improvely looks awesome btw.
