Alas! For almost a century [see diagram] CEO's are spreading phony illusions about "superintelligent AI" being almost ready. This happens when your main concern is to find investors rather than actually helping humanity. https://i0.wp.com/sitn.hms.harvard.edu/wp-content/uploads/20...

Sam Altman (CEO of "OpenAI" - company responsible for chatGPT ) just announced that " It is possible that we will have superintelligence in a few thousand days". Alas! For almost a century [see diagram] CEO's are spreading phony illusions about "superintelligent AI" being almost ready. This happens when your main concern is to find investors rather than actually helping humanity. https://i0.wp.com/sitn.hms.harvard.edu/wp-content/uploads/20...
Re:Linux Crosses 4% Market Share Worldwide on Tuesday March 05, 2024 @03:36AM (#39600787)
Most of the confusion would be avoided by simply changing the article to: "GNU/Linux Crosses 4% Market Share Worldwide"
EU always acts in favor of big tech against independent/smaller teams. Tech companies spend millions of euro per year on EU shady digital lobbying [1][2]. The same happened in the agricultural field, where EU laws made it impossible to maintain small or individual farming companies and in the same time EU's market is now full of MGO's [3]. EU isn't a friend of free software[4].

Re:Debian Statement on the Cyber Resilience Act on Thursday December 28, 2023 @01:43AM (#38790744)
The Debian team announcement is on the right track. Asking freelancers and free software groups to face the same measures and fines as big tech companies is unfair competition. The E.U. of course, was never friendly to free software[1]. The bureaucratic and neoliberal extremists that are in the lobby of Brussels will always try to destroy free and independent creation.

Supported by redhat is practically on the headline of the page. "Copyright ©2021 Red Hat, Inc." is at the bottom. Redhat nowadays speak mostly about open source and almost never about free software.

Open source supporters were celebrating Google's use of the Linux kernel in Android, hoping that this would promote it's usage. Android is now a Frankenstein spyware monster that uses mostly proprietary software.

> is that Open Source has completely failed to serve the common person. For the most part, if they use us at all they do so through a proprietary software company's systems, like Apple iOS or Google Android, both of which use Open Source for infrastructure but the apps are mostly proprietary.

This most certainly wouldn't have happened if "open source realism" didn't stood against free software "utopian" idealists. I still remember the "Linux Kernel is now in most devices in the world" when Android came out. This didn't went well, didn't it?

Lastly, isn't redhat an enthusiastic supporter of open source ? The domain https://opensource.com/ is literally copyrighted and supported by redhat...
