the only difference is VW admitted wrongfulness
i think it is pretty obvious there is no systematic bias against women it's more of reminiscent of an ancient culture of mistreating women...i think it is rare to find in a modern/western corporate world, group of folks who systematically and in organized way trying to oppress women
cool but it's sad to know that this is required to maintain gender equality

Re:AlphaGo beats Lee Sedol again in match 2 of 5 on Thursday March 10, 2016 @10:55AM (#11259900)
I would like to see another experiment where Lee is aided by a computer and plays against AlphaGo and see who wins...some believe that human intuition working with a mediocre computer is much more powerful than a supercomputer by itself.

Is this for statistical debugging as well?
Re:Lessons Learned Launching a Side Project in 48 Hours on Saturday February 20, 2016 @04:08PM (#11141972)
Some ideas (take it with a grain of salt)

1) You should have a rating system for experts and award different level of badges and users should write reviews also experts with high scores should have a higher pay rate

2) interviewing experts is not going to scale not only you will not have the time but you also need internal experts to interview the Become an expert" applicants (you need some fast vetting process or rely on the rating system)

3) You should collect data from StackOverFlow and other sites and see which questions novice folks are having a hard time getting answers to and try to get experts on those topics (this could become your competitive advantage)

4) You can scale this to businesses - they would certainly appreciate the on-demand help aspect of this thing. Businesses specially small ones may have support account subscriptions with vendors like Red Hat, IBM, etc...which can be costly for them. If your experts are reliable they would rather pay you only when they need help instead of paying the vendors monthly/yearly.

5) As your experts are working the problems you should keep a very organized knowledge base of the issue and resolution (maybe you can monetize this data later on or it maybe useful somehow)

what about the rich foreigners buying up the new development for the rich to park their money
Re:Zimbabwe's plan to use China's currency on Wednesday December 23, 2015 @05:02PM (#10785952)
"In recent months, some Zimbabwean economists had argued that the country should increase its use of the Chinese currency in a bid to get around U.S. sanctions."...hmm other dictatorships may follow suit...
Re:Million Dollar iOS9 Bug Bounty on Monday September 21, 2015 @01:41PM (#10253854)

Re:How We Support 1,650 Customers with One Representative on Wednesday September 09, 2015 @04:34PM (#10194383)
I think the challenge is not in the numbers but in the quality of support and these guys are doing it well and substantiating how they did it with solid evidence.
Re:Neanderthals had outsize effect on human biology on Wednesday August 05, 2015 @03:10PM (#10012100)
Correction: Melanesians have Denisovan DNA not Neanderthal DNA, people from southern Europe have higher Neanderthal DNA than anyone else...the highest (up to 4-5%) in people from Tuscany...
Re:Homejoy says goodbye on Friday July 17, 2015 @04:07PM (#9904990)
I think the system of rebalancing is a small factor, the major factor being a fiscal policy instated by the federal government on state spending...there needs to be a similar central entity in the Eurozone to implement not just momentary policy but also fiscal policy...but we all know this idea is unpopular
Re:Introduction to Microservices on Thursday July 09, 2015 @05:41PM (#9860891)
I think architects have to be very careful in deciding which components would qualify as a microservice and which ones should be lumped together. This article sums up my thought. http://www.infoq.com/news/2014/11/ucon-microservices-enterpr...
I guess it makes sense for their case, since who cares an image was uploaded by integration test or it was "real user" generated.
why would they have test data in production?
"she's too" implies the relationship between her and boyfriend is already broken so you don't exactly know if you're truly falling in love with her or if your falling in love with her current emotional vulnerability due to the problems in her relationship...in order to keep your friendship and this startup you should completely avoid her and even have a private discussion with her letting her know that this should no longer continue...
Re:Bidding farewell to Google Code on Thursday March 12, 2015 @04:16PM (#9193550)
GitHub wins! I think it's good that Google indirectly admitted their service is not as good as Github, now they need to do the same thing about Google+. Google, you are an amazing company but sorry you can't possibly be the best at everything.
Re:How I Crashed and Burned in Y Combinator on Saturday January 10, 2015 @05:15PM (#8868143)
"I don’t want to start another company until I find a problem that I care about. A problem that I eat, sleep and breathe. A problem worth solving."

i agree with you but you shouldn't wait for these ideas to come by out the blue moon, you should be constantly searching, trying/testing, and keep living/experiencing a lot of different things...because there are a lot of problems out there that you DO NOT know they exist, and how would you know you care about these problems if you don't know they exist.

good luck.

good read...anyone thinking of running a consultancy should read this.
Re:What people are googling in real time on Thursday June 13, 2013 @06:45PM (#5877107)
this is not real time...it just pulls a whole bunch of data at once and makes it look like real time with the animations...it is actually animating the same data on page refresh and displaying them randomly to simulate real time...idk how often it's updated though....
Re:Should I be paid more? on Wednesday December 26, 2012 @11:55AM (#4969872)
It is a support services company. I am still not sure why a company would pay just based on years of experience as opposed to performance, but thanks for your input.
