What specifically is missing from the answers in your opinion?
yep -- held off on textbooks for this reason.
yea they basically just say things that sound plausible
cool little interaction -- thank you for your feedback.
yep -- retention is ghastly rn :p
Sahil Lavingia from Gumroad has an amazing video on his YouTube channel called "AI in a Day" that explains it at a high level.
Ohh!! Sorry -- that was my first time to HN. Will remember this for the next time!
Each book is best at answering questions on its own source material. For now though, it will sometimes answer stuff not related to the book.
The litmus test I use is always asking a new book "Do you know anything about the Chamber of Secrets" -- often times will say no. Sometimes will return the most semantically similar thing it can find.
This will be fixed eventually!
My buddy and I will start fixing that on Saturday.
Right now we are in San Francisco pitching the idea to try and raise money to work on it full time :)

I never really read my micro-econ textbook.Looking up concepts from the book with Google yields SEO-y results. So I used GPT-3 to make a custom chatbot I can query at any time.
Try asking the book questions about the specific topics that it covers.
Looks like OpenAI is getting hammered currently.
if one book does not work I would suggest trying a different one. working on fixing this!
I posted this earlier but I have a free weekly newsletter for this project. I take book requests from readers, and document the process of building out the library. Readers also get early access to books as they come out.

Definitely. I've done this for a couple people already actually. At the bottom of the books page I have a link for exactly that kind of use case.
yes! this is just the first iteration.
hey - some other commenters have answered your question better than I could.
If you click the emoji there are some sample questions for each book.
It has more to do with people's expectations of fiction books being different for this format.
With non-fiction it's more straight forward. Simple Q&A.
Not familiar with the Jobs reference. Would love a link to that.
New to HN, so not sure if this is the right way to connect. I set up a Twitter account for this project if you want to DM.

Sometimes a book will refer to a quote from its author spontaneously. For my own amusement I google the quote. Almost always I can find the source.
