Ask HN: Why are programmers so cynical?

Obviously a generalization, but I think we can all agree that it's become a sort of meme now on HN. A startup will launch and there will be at least a few people determined to make known why they think the startup should not exist, often with a cynical tone. The classic example is the Dropbox launch [0]. A more recent example might be the Mighty launch [1].Why do we think this is? Is cynicism...

Sorry for that! We decided to focus on Spotify first due to its large userbase and mention it in the app description but I agree, it should definitely be on the main website too!
The loyal fans who will donate to the artist :)

Show HN: Disco, a platform for independent artists to reach more fans

Just launched the MVP of my startup today after two weeks of non-stop work.Right now, Disco is an artist discovery platform where artists can submit their Spotify tracks for users to listen to through a Tinder-like UI, swiping right on the ones they like. The vision is far grander, of course, and involves fostering greater artist <-> fan connection while also providing a sustainable source...

I can’t count the number of projects I’ve started (but not finished) in varying types of hobbies, including but not limited to card magic, music production, videography, creative writing, and of course software development.

I tend to cycle between hobbies for whatever reason, and every time I come back to a hobby, I get a little better at it, and I think that’s what really matters in the end. Though I haven’t gone back to card magic in a while haha.

Ask HN: Good books/courses for an up-to-date introduction to NLP?

After reading a lot of blog posts about GPT-3 and GPT-2 and not understanding a whole lot other than the fact that the results are _amazing_, I've been wondering if there are any good resources out there for a beginner (someone who's experienced in general software development but has next to no experience in ML, DL, and NLP) looking to get into NLP.A lot of the books and posts I've found seem...

Your sense of design is imo simply impeccable! I was wondering what you used to build your blog? Checked out the code and it seems custom-built! Is that right?
