It's worth noting that their campaign page has been reduced to a simple "Sorry, this project is no longer available" message.

This, despite Kickstarter's claim that projects are kept on their site forever. Their FAQ states that "Projects are not closed or taken down, they remain on site for reference and transparency.

I blogged more about this here:

As requested: https://www.google.com/fusiontables/DataSource?docid=1ecu_DI...

The KickBack Machine dumps lots of data into this Fusion Table on an ongoing basis. Please feel free to slice and dice it however you like.

That's kind of you to say. Radio's my day job.
Re:Show HN: See Kickstarter successes and failures on Friday August 10, 2012 @02:46PM (#4367584)
Indeed, the aggregate numbers are there, but it's extremely difficult to find individual examples of success/failure by category or goal. That's the point of TKBM.
Re:Show HN: See Kickstarter successes and failures on Friday August 10, 2012 @02:44PM (#4367577)
It's an incomplete list. TKBM has only been tracking projects that ended since mid-June 2012.

According to my numbers, since mid-June 2012, the overall success rate for all projects in all categories has been ~72%. Much higher than Kickstarter's all-time success rate of ~44%.

Indeed, the launch date is there, but it's only accurate to the day. To figure out the actual launch date+time, you need to look at the deadline and subtract the project duration, both of which can be found in this element on each page:

<span data-duration="X" data-end_time="Y" id="project_duration_data">

Search is on the roadmap, for sure. That said, Kickstarter's existing search function performs very well.

The primary purpose of TKBM is to collect Kickstarter projects together by outcome (success/failure) and goal -- two things that Kickstarter's site doesn't make easy.

Re:Show HN: See Kickstarter successes and failures on Friday August 10, 2012 @10:41AM (#4366346)
Not sure what you mean by this? What would be in the "events" category? Currently, the category list mirrors Kickstarter's own.
Re:Show HN: See Kickstarter successes and failures on Friday August 10, 2012 @10:39AM (#4366342)
Solid suggestion. I suppose that the length and colour of the progress bar is probably enough to signal whether a project was successful or not. Thanks.
Re:Show HN: See Kickstarter successes and failures on Friday August 10, 2012 @09:31AM (#4366049)
Right now, it only tracks funding, not follow-through.
Re:Kickstarter hides failure on Thursday May 24, 2012 @11:23AM (#4018841)
Good point. I could have chosen a less specific example to point out that "failed" projects still show up in search results.
Re:Kickstarter hides failure on Thursday May 24, 2012 @11:15AM (#4018804)
That's exactly the kind of thing I'd like to be able to do. For instance, I'd love to know which categories have the highest success rates, etc.
Re:Kickstarter hides failure on Thursday May 24, 2012 @10:55AM (#4018694)
In 2011, Kickstarter reported its overall project success rate as 44%: http://www.kickstarter.com/blog/shortening-the-maximum-proje...
Re:Kickstarter hides failure on Thursday May 24, 2012 @10:46AM (#4018637)
Kickstarter certainly seems to have a higher success rate than rival Indiegogo, where 2/3 of projects don't meet their funding goals.
Re:Kickstarter hides failure on Thursday May 24, 2012 @10:25AM (#4018546)
Of course. As I mentioned in the piece, search still turns up unsuccessful results.

The point of the piece is that failed projects don't show up in: a) Kickstarter's Discover interface b) Google results

I have two Google accounts as well: - one Google Apps account (main, day-to-day email, [email protected]) - one plain vanilla Gmail account (old, mostly unused)

When I learned that Google+ wouldn't work with Google Apps, I signed up using my old, vanilla Gmail account.

At this point, I really do feel like Google Apps account are second-class citizens in the Google world. I'm seriously considering switching back to my vanilla Gmail account for most things, and setting up email forwarding from my vanity email account.
